When you come back to our campus, it’s hard not to notice the progress. One day there’s one welding robot or magnet test stand, and the next day there are two. We were glad to welcome Casey Crownhart again to our Devens headquarters to see that progress. As Casey noted in the MIT Technology Review, it’s becoming easier to envision a future with fusion energy, thanks to the daily efforts of our team working hard to build that better tomorrow. Superconductors on the march! Are we going to see similar effects in the #fusion ecosystem in Europe? Cornelia Hintze how is the panorama in Germany/EU looking like? #supremetech #fusionenergy #superconductors #energy
We’re delighted to announce that we have signed a new off-take contract for high temperature superconductor tape with New Jersey-based Thea Energy. This is the largest HTS tape supply contract for any stellarator-technology project ever. The agreement secures superconductor material supply and full-scale expertise support from Faraday Factory Japan to Thea Energy, contributing to the success of the company's first large-scale, fully integrated stellarator, called Eos. ? The urgency of #ClimateChange calls for immediate action. #Fusion system prototypes should be built in an expedited way to curtail climate change and ignite the new trillion-dollar fusion power industry. ? This decade, Thea Energy will design, build and operate Eos, creating fusion conditions at power plant relevant scale. Eos will leverage Thea Energy’s core technology, programmable planar (i.e. flat) magnets. These magnets eliminate the complex modular magnets found in prior generations of the stellarator and create a system architecture capable of real-world operation. Eos will also be a commercial system and produce various isotopes, including tritium. ? Fusion can uniquely provide a limitless source of zero-emission, baseload energy, and we are eager to continue to work with Thea Energy and the entire fusion community to support its commercialization.?

Helion is indeed working on a fusion power plant, aiming to harness the power of fusion reactions to generate clean electricity. Their approach involves magneto-inertial fusion, which combines magnetic and inertial confinement techniques to achieve a stable plasma state. This method allows for direct electricity generation without the need for thermal conversion, making it potentially more efficient and cost-effective compared to traditional fusion approaches. While there are some concerns and uncertainties surrounding the technology, Helion Energy's high iteration rate and rapid progress are seen as positive indicators. The company has also secured substantial funding, with $500 million invested in their research and development The company's partnership with Microsoft and their goal of achieving net electricity by 2028 further underscore their commitment to commercializing fusion energy. XMTR - Driving Client Success and Growth | Expert in Supply Chain Solutions | Industry Leader in Manufacturing Innovation
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced a groundbreaking $42 million program to advance foundational inertial fusion energy (IFE) science and technology. This initiative, led by multi-institutional hubs including Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, marks a significant stride toward harnessing fusion energy. Fusion, with its potential for abundant, reliable, and non-carbon-emitting energy, aligns with the United States ambitious climate and energy goals. How does this relate to Xometry ? -- Longer-Term Production Projects: Xometry is well-equipped to handle extended manufacturing projects, just as LLNL leads in advancing fusion energy solutions. -- Assembly Work Expertise: With our capabilities in full assembly work, Xometry supports projects ranging from smaller prototypes to large-scale production, echoing the diverse requirements of the IFE-STAR program. --Seamless Transition: Like the IFE-STAR program seamlessly transitioning from low-gain experiments to high gain and high repetition rates, Xometry smoothly transitions from prototypes to long-term production orders. In this season of innovation and collaboration, explore how Xometry can contribute to the success of your next manufacturing project. Jesse Hartheimer and myself can help manage your project from start to finish. Reach out to discuss your specific needs and unlock the potential of our partnership. #Xometry #ManufacturingInnovation #FusionEnergy #DOEInitiative
