I participated the E3 Final Seminar - Tackling Pandemics in Helsinki. Three lessons learnt from the seminar: -The role of air transmission in the spread of respiratory viruses is more dominant that has been understood before -In a 2 years intervention in 4 day cares of Helsinki city, children's morbidity was decreased by 18 percent when the air was cleaned with air purifiers -There are practices and technologies available to significantly mitigate the spread of respiratory viruses in indoor air All these lessons learnt should be considered when preparing for next epidemics or pandemics. #e3pandemicresponse

WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has determined that the upsurge of #monkeypox constitutes a public health emergency of international concern. Several outbreaks of different clades of monkeypox have occurred in different countries, with different modes of transmission and different levels of risk. Transmitted between species and inter-species transfer of bodily fluids with a number of cases identified through contact with infected lesions, inhalation of respiratory droplets, and indirect contact with contaminated items. The Vivalytic monkeypox RT-PCR panel is specifically developed to detect the presence of the virus (Clade I and Clade II) and non-variola orthopoxvirus species, with a remarkable time-to-result of just 45 minutes!
