I tried to launch a simple Telegram parser in the GCP Cloud function on the weekend. It is need to store a session file, tried to put it in the Cloud Storage bucket, but it didn’t help. Thinking today about the next evolution of IaC. I agree with many a K8s based solution like Crossplane or an operator are cool and solve many issues. The two biggest areas of concerns I see with that approach is that it requires Kubernetes and how do you really do local development like you can with other IaC tool. It is going to stink to need a K8s cluster to perform any testing before pushing (I acknowledge that you need to use a cloud provider, ??).

Kubernetes based IaC tools make perfect since if you are using Kubernetes already. If you are using Kubernetes, how likely are you to be doing as much in your cloud provider? With the CPI offered for most clouds there isn’t a lot of direct management outside of K8s with the extra things you need to manage.
