*** THIS IS A SPECIAL EVENT, SO DON'T MISS OUT! *** On 5 November (5pm)... Jake Schogger and Peter Watson kick off with the grand finale of our commercial awareness competition, which will see our five finalists battle it out for the (metaphorical) commercial awareness crown and (literal) top prizes. Each finalist will deliver a 2-minute presentation to all attendees on a topical story that's relevant, prevalent and important, before receiving live feedback from Peter and Jake (we're hoping this will benefit everyone in attendance who might one day need to deliver a similar presentation during an assessment centre!). We'll then host a vote for the winner, and the results from this poll will combine with Jake and Peter's votes to give us the winner. Jake and Peter will then provide their usual summary of the key current affairs and trends from October 2024, including insights from a business, markets and legal perspective. And at the end, we'll announce the winner! Register for free via: https://lnkd.in/dpCuXyEi #currentaffairs #businessnews #commercialawareness

What to do if a policy maker rejects your meeting request? When you lobby, there will be people who don’t want to meet you, so what do you do if they are important to your issue? First of all make sure you have done your research and have a strong hypothesis on your common ground, then: 1.?????Find common ground with someone they do want to meet and get a shared meeting. 2.?????Look for events they participate in, show up, bump into them and do your best. 3.?????Go via your trade association. And if none of this works? Maybe there is someone else you can meet with instead? Other suggestions? Please share!

Hey friends I have a wee favour to ask… I’ve submitted to speak at SXSW Sydney this year with my presentation: Finding Flow: The Consciousness of Creativity. I’ve made it through the first round, but this is where I need your help. The public vote is a big factor in determining which presentations get accepted. So, could I ask you to spare 30 seconds and vote for my talk by following the 3 simple steps below? Step 1: Register to vote at: https://lnkd.in/gk2Db-59 (you’ll need to submit your email) Step 2: Once you’ve done that, type ‘creativity’ in the search box and you will see my session pop up in a list below (remember it's called ‘Finding Flow: The Consciousness of Creativity’). Step 3: Click on the ‘vote’ button (with the little heart on it) on my session image. --- That’s it, you’re done! Votes close this Thursday 25th April. Your support means a lot to me, so thank you in advance if you’re able to help out! I appreciate you!

For anyone that missed it, you can now catch Gladue in Practice at the link below!
Following the much-attended Gladue in Practice conference, we’re pleased to share a recording of the entire event. Presented in collaboration with BC First Nations Justice Council, the entire two-day conference is now available to watch free of charge — and you can claim CPD credits for doing so. At this practical session, we examined current best practices for report writing on a provincial and national level and welcomed collaboration on future endeavours for enhancing the effectiveness of Gladue in practice. As our featured speakers, we were proud to have the Honourable Chief Justice Leonard S. Marchand, the Honourable Attorney General Niki Sharma, and the Honourable Judge Alexander Wolf. Huge and heartfelt thanks to our partners the BC First Nations Justice Council for teaming up with us for this important program and everyone who came! And thanks to course chairs Kory Wilson, Amanda Carling, and Amandeep K. Sehmbi, as well as all our faculty members such as Christina J. Cook, Brenda Edwards (she/her), Jennifer Isaac, Kristina King, Talia Magder, Benjamin Ralston, Jackie Stelkia, E. Condesa Strain, and Olivia Thomas. We could have never pulled this off without you!
