This was my absolute favorite panel of the entire event. Seeing two of my former wing commanders on stage, speaking so resolutely toward the needs of our nation, toward a nation that my own children will be proud to grow up in, brought hope and joy to my heart. I also deeply resonated with General Mike Minihan's remarks: "If we don't get connectivity correct, then we are condemned to operate that airplane in the same way our grandfathers did, in the 50s, 60s, and 70s." --and-- "Amateurs study tactics. Professionals study logistics. Victors study maneuver!" --and-- "The readiness that underpins deterrence is the same readiness that underpins decisive victory." --and-- "Airmen fill the gap between what they have and what they need. They do that with tenacity...they do that with courage...they do that with professionalism...they do that with passion!" Such a feast of motivation and truth. I also love watching Airmen close that gap, and I'm grateful to still be in a position to help and contribute to their efforts. I love my chosen career of innovation. The path between idea and innovation is one of maneuver, with innovators creating the conditions for great ideas to become reality, in advance of their time of need. Kyle Paul, U.S. Space Operations Command Deputy Commander for Operations, Plans, Training and Force Development, and other members of the SpOC Headquarters staff at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, on Sept. 19, 2024. Phew… The Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP)'s Worldwide Expeditionary Multiple Award Contract (WEXMAC) 2.0 Industry Day is now behind us. Let me highlight a couple of remarkable aspects: Diverse Collaboration: Throughout the day, I witnessed a diverse group of industry partners—ranging from small to large companies and even foreign contractors—collaborating and connecting. Their collective efforts were truly inspiring. Acquisition Professionals on Fire: The acquisition professionals, spanning from the U.S. Army Contracting Command to NAVSUP FLC Sigonella were on fire! They actively shaped the path forward for WEXMAC 2.0 and engaged our incredible industry partners by addressing questions and explaining complex problems. Leadership Spotlight: Take a closer look at the leaders in this picture—they are poised to change the world! ?? SFC Keandre Malone from the 409th Contracting Support Battalion stands out as a change agent. His dedication exemplifies why the joint forces NEED contingency contracting officers. Developing our nation’s next generation of warfighters! Surface Warfare Schools Command (SWSC) Commanding Officer, CAPT Joseph Baggett, meets with RADM Pete Garvin, President, Naval War College (NWC) to discuss efforts as warfighting enablers by the two premier training and education organizations located onboard Naval Station Newport. NWC and SWSC regularly collaborate, supporting each other’s leader development programs designed to ensure decisive advantage in a complex and rapidly changing global security environment. Both organizations are vital to the Navy’s strategic focus on increasing naval competitive advantage to effectively deter aggression and succeed in long-term competition that challenges our national security, and to prepare our naval forces to succeed across the full spectrum of conflict. On this day in history, 12 October 1940, the USS Wasp (CV-7) launches the first Army aircraft to be flown from a U.S. Navy carrier. The Wasp had taken on a number and variety of planes from the U.S. Army Air Corps in order to perform test launches while out at sea. These tests were a comparative study between the take-off runs of Navy versus Army aircraft. USS Wasp would later be involved in a mission supporting the British military in Iceland, even before the United States officially joined the war. On this mission, the aircraft carrier ferried planes to Iceland to supplement inadequate British numbers, providing vital reinforcements and continuing the pattern of collaboration between the armed forces.
