I will soon be taking part in Cash for Kids ‘Survive The Wild’. For some local children their school dinner is the only hot meal of the day. During the holidays struggling families simply can't afford enough food, so they're often eating unhealthy options or even nothing at all. ? We want to make sure these children have enough to eat. Money raised will help reach out, with fun activities and that important meal during the holidays. ? It's fast approaching Boycott your Bed Action for Children where I will be taking part on Friday 4th October in Glasgow to help raise vital funds for vulnerable children in the UK. Poverty can have numerous effects on children’s physical and mental health. From affecting a family’s ability to?access essentials?like food and heating, to making it harder to?take part in activities?like sports clubs or school trips. These factors can all influence a child’s?mental wellbeing?and?self-esteem. Currently?1.6 million children?(11% of all children) live in low-income households that struggle to afford essentials like?warm winter coats?and fresh?fruit?and?vegetables. For children growing up in poverty, going without the things that others take for granted can contribute to?increased anxiety?or?low mood. With the support of our donors, MREF was able to grant $15,300 to Baal Dan, which sought to save children impacted by famine through food supplies for children and equal access to safe and inclusive primary education for conflict-induced internally displaced (IDP) girls and boys.
