Historically, entertainers would take to the streets in search of donations & busking became the accepted English term for this practice. Public performance has deep cultural roots, from ancient Rome. This rich history highlights busking’s role as one of the earliest entrepreneurial paths for artists, blending talent & direct #customer engagement. Busking vs. Street Musician A street musician specifically performs music, often specializing in instruments or vocals. Buskers, on the other hand, encompass a broader range of acts, including theater, puppetry, etc. Can You Make a Living from Busking? With the digital era, busking has evolved. Not only do buskers earn tips from passersby but platforms like YouTube have opened doors to global audiences. Successful buskers can supplement their street earnings with online ad revenue, sponsorships & even music #sales. Known for his improvisational skills, live looping & multi-instrumental talents, Dovydas creates engaging performances by layering guitar, bass & percussion sounds, often as a one-man band. Many people know of my passion for the Grateful Dead. It started over 35 years ago with the music, the improvisational nature of which I could not get enough. It reminded me of the jazz music I played as a kid when I played trombone and my experiences all the way through college in vocal jazz ensembles, many of which had an improvisational nature. My improv training as an actor also probably had an impact on this I also talk about the business model of The Dead in my book “Sincerity: The Recipe for Living Your Best Personal and Professional Life” due to the comparisons between how one can live their personal and professional lives sincerely, creating tremendous value throughout and how the Dead often introduced new fans to their music The Dead allowed fans to record their shows, and they could trade the shows to their hearts content. Their record label thought they were nuts - but they realized this was the best decision they ever made, their fan base grew virally, and they ended up one of the biggest bands ever. They went viral before viral was a thing. As we sit here today, their brand is huge in large part due to how they grew their fan base The lesson here is to be a Giver, don’t look to get paid for every single thing you do, create sincere introductions for others - if you do this sincerely your personal brand will grow and you will end up with a network of friends that will always return your calls and have your back Enjoy the music ?? #gratefuldead #bekind #businessmodel #sincerity #beagiver
