Let’s do some Sunday Reset together. ?? Might clear out the fluff for the start of the workweek tomorrow. What do you tell yourself all the time? Your kids? Your mentees? Coworkers? Team? Is there a mantra you repeat to keep calm? To invite clarity and discernment? To practice gratitude? Patience? To nurture and sculpt culture? To combat your inner bully? I’ll bet your teams or coworkers could pull some gems for you. Pretty sure mine can, and I wonder what sticks with them? Share with us, if you’d like. It interests me to know what people around the country and world think is important enough to make part of their leadership identity. Plus, let’s inspire each other. I can use some inspiration to get ready for busy and challenging weeks ahead, and I like a little bit of fun. Come on, now. Don’t be shy. This is just between us. ?? I’ll start.

Just last week, I connected with two exceptional leaders that are in the early stages of exploring what’s next. Both have had, by all traditional definitions, successful careers in their chosen field. Yet they’re feeling like there’s something missing… that’s there’s “more” out there for them. Something different than simply choosing to join another company. In turn, we’ve dug into what “more” means: evaluating all the past roles, their values, priorities, and basic needs. And every time: clarity around an intentional redirection emerges. Clarity and confidence that they can: ?Choose where they spend their time. Who they want to spend it with. How they spend it. ??? Create what they want to create. Explore what they want to explore. Learn what they want to learn. Meet who they want to meet. ?? Optimize their focus for improved energy, health and prioritization. Man, it’s inspiring and fun to see people shed the “should layers” they’ve worn their entire careers (or lives?!) and shift towards creating the future of their dreams. ??

Here’s to New Beginnings ? In the past few weeks, I’ve had the privilege to pause and reflect. Recently, some changes took place within my Corporate Communications department, and now it feels like the right time for a change of my own. It’s bittersweet to bid farewell to H.B. Fuller, which has truly been my home for the past five incredible years. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to colleagues, leaders and my great team—you’ve made me feel valued every single day, and I couldn’t have asked for a cooler crew to grow and thrive with! As a seasoned communications leader with a track record of enhancing reputation and engagement for top global companies, I’ve worked through many transformations. But this change feels different. It’s personal. It’s about growth in a new direction—embracing the freedom to focus on what’s next, with purpose and empathy. Here's what I'm up to in the coming months: ?Pausing to reflect on the wealth of experience I carry with me and what I’m most enthusiastic about. ?? Learning a new skill (or two!). ??Reaching out to connect more often with the people I admire. ??Diving into books I’ve been meaning to read. ??And most importantly, enjoying those “perfect days” that we all have in our ordinary lives. Looking ahead, I’m committed to nurturing a life I’m passionate about and building the next chapter I deserve. I’m inspired by environments where good, responsible and smart leadership fosters respect, growth, and excellence. In spaces, where knowledge is shared and people strive together, meaningful change becomes possible—this alignment of values and purpose is driving me for what’s next ??. So, I’ll leave you with this question: What’s the one thing you’ve learned from career transitions that has shaped who you are today? Let’s connect, share knowledge, and explore opportunities to build something meaningful together??. #NextChapter #CareerGrowth #Communication #Leadership #Transformation #NewBeginnings?

I want to take a moment to express my deep appreciation to this guy right here who intentionally continue to establish a safe space for me, where I am able to speak my mind freely without fear or hesitation. As someone who is an advocate of building safe spaces for people, I understand the immense value of creating an environment where individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered to share their thoughts and ideas. Craig McKenna, your leadership in fostering such an open and inclusive atmosphere is truly commendable. It's not just about offering a platform to speak—it’s about cultivating an avenue where I feel safe enough to express myself authentically. As an advocate for this cause, I’ve always believed that when people are given the freedom to voice their opinions without fear of judgment or repercussion, people become more engaged, more innovative, and more invested in work. The impact of this safe space extends far beyond just communication; it encourages trust, collaboration, and growth. When I feel valued and certain that my perspectives are genuinely listened to, I become more confident and motivated, knowing that my contributions are meaningful and appreciated. It’s leaders like you who help shape cultures where people are not only allowed but encouraged to speak up. Thank you for leading by example and for actively supporting this advocacy through your actions. It makes all the difference. PS: I may not be able to hand you a birthday card but I hope this virtual card would make you feel appreciated today. Happy birthday Craig McKenna! #SafeSpaces #LeadbyExample #Leadership #Growth

Last week, the Sanger Leadership Center wrapped up our two-day retreat. This year, our focus was: navigating change, embracing curiosity, and leading with vision. We did some visioning inspired by Zingerman’s, brainstormed and provided feedback to each other around our objectives and key results, and participated in a change simulation exercise led by Maxim Sytch ???? that harnessed our ability to influence, manage buy-in and our network all while embracing our strategy. We visited the UMMA museum and selected a piece of art that we did not resonate with and members of our team changed our perspective by embracing curiosity with inquiry and we debriefed what to do when ambiguity shows up, how we accept the uncertainty and challenge our assumptions. We ended our time together by revising our strengths in our work and participated in a baking class with at Zingermans. Here are a few insights and practical tips: - Embracing Curiosity: Approach new experiences and ideas with a willingness to learn rather than judge. Suspend your preconceived notions and allow yourself to explore without bias. - Navigating Ambiguity: Understand that not all situations have clear-cut answers. Embrace the unknown and be comfortable with not having immediate clarity. Learn to view ambiguity as an opportunity for growth and creativity. - Getting New Perspectives: Ask questions that cannot be answered with a simple “yes” or “no.” This encourages deeper thinking and more elaborate responses. Examples include: “What do you think about…?” “How does this affect…?” “Why do you feel…?” - Encourage Diverse Opinions: Create an environment where different viewpoints are valued and respected. Encourage others to share their unique perspectives. Be mindful of groupthink and actively seek out dissenting opinions. - Rolling Out Change: start with explicit strategy, consider timing, build trust before asking for favors, keep momentum by securing support, show progress before expecting more resources - Revisit your Strengths: what strengths did you bring to the table this last year? How did others see you show up? Where might you use a strength you have in an upcoming challenging situation?? - Be curious about others: Show interest in people’s backgrounds, experiences, and motivations. Understanding their context can provide valuable insights. Ask questions like: “What led you to this point?” “What experiences shaped your views?” - Stay playful: Treat learning and discovery as a playful adventure. Don’t be afraid to experiment and make mistakes.

It's great to see this article featuring our CEO, Claire Heald in the Tes today. Claire talks about being focussed on building relationships with her team and our family of schools. You can read more about what she is prioritising and working on in the below link. #myweekas #tes #thecamacademytrust #schoolleaders #trustleaders #matceo #educhat
Those first few months as a new CEO can be some of the most exciting, but some of the hardest, someone will have in the role. So it is great that Claire Heald has taken part in our My Week As... series to give an insight into how she is approaching this tricky period in her new role, sharing her approaches and explaining the reasons for arranging her time in the way that she has. It's such a useful tool for discussion for new leaders (and some old ones I am sure!) and full credit to her for putting this out there. https://lnkd.in/e8Pq2QCH

The Power of Fun in Leadership and Life. Earlier this week my Vistage key group embodied the idea of having fun, while learning and growing as leaders. And as people who know me, I believe that fun in business is key to success. The picture below says it all. Does everyone look happy or what. we had a he'll of a good time! The holiday season reminds us to find joy and connection, I’m struck by how vital fun is—not just during the holidays, but in leadership, business, and life. Fun isn’t just about having a good time; it’s a powerful tool for growth. It fosters creativity, builds trust, and creates bonds that strengthen teams and organizations. Great leaders understand this: when we bring fun into the workplace, we spark innovation, reduce stress. Fun is the secret ingredient that transforms businesses into communities—and leaders into connectors. I am living proof of that! This is why Vistage is so special to me. As Chairs, members, and leaders, we embrace the idea that leadership doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time. Sure, we tackle complex issues, but we also celebrate wins, laugh often, and create moments that remind us why we do what we do. At key our meeting we had scavenger hunts, numerous games, gift exchanges and much more. we had a blast. no one wanted to leave. my challenge to all of you. Let’s commit to making fun a leadership strategy—not just for the holidays but year-round. Let’s lead. Let’s grow. Let’s have fun. #Vistage #leadership #fun

Sharing my New Year message that I shared to my leadership team at Scripps Health. Based on their advice, I’m sharing it here. These thoughts are a reflection of the values and aspirations that I hold dearly - and believe will drive us forward together. 1?? Focus on meaningful progress. It’s not about staying busy—it’s about outcomes that matter. 2?? Define your worth by your contributions, not your title. Self-worth isn’t tied to a title; it’s tied to the difference you make. 3?? Respect for others is at the heart of everything we do, regardless of role or hierarchy. 4?? Recognize the power of rest. Recharging fuels creativity, focus, and resilience. 5?? Step outside your comfort zone. Growth begins where comfort ends. 6?? Build meaningful connections. Prioritize relationships over transactions—quality over speed. 7?? Celebrate success together and add value through your wins. Be a cheerleader, not a critic. 8?? Mind your tone, actions, and body language. Communication is more than words. 9?? Find purpose and fun in the work. ?? Leadership can sometimes feel lonely, but you’re never alone. Tough situations are opportunities to collaborate and grow. Lean on your team. 1??1?? Solutions sometimes take time—patience and foresight go hand in hand. 1??2?? Celebrate others’ success. Recognizing others strengthens the entire team. 1??3?? Communicate clearly and authentically. Transparency builds trust; kindness fosters respect. 1??4?? Think strategically, act decisively. 1??5?? Great achievements often start with a stretch. Embrace the discomfort of growth. How are you approaching the new year? Do you have any advice? Let’s learn from each other. #Leadership #Growth #Teamwork #NewYear #Purpose

After 26 hours of travel from Brisbane to Boston, including a 50-degree temperature swing (38°C to -12°C!) and just 2 hours of sleep, I arrived at my hotel room for our Company Kickoff. Exhausted but excited to start the year, I found a message waiting for me from our CEO. The message wasn’t long or overly formal, but it was personal. He took the time to express his appreciation for my contributions. And, as if that wasn’t enough, he arranged for my room to be upgraded to a suite. It was a small gesture in the grand scheme of things, but it means a lot. In leadership, we often talk about culture, values, and recognition. This was a perfect example of why those things matter. That simple message reminded me how important it is to feel seen and valued—not just as a leader or employee but as a person. As I think about the year ahead, I’m reminded that leadership isn’t just about strategy or execution. It’s about creating an environment where people feel cared for, appreciated, and motivated to give their best. That’s the kind of culture I’m proud to be a part of and inspired to help build. Our Kickoff is about setting the tone for the year, and this was the perfect way to start. Here’s to the year ahead and the incredible team I’m privileged to work with. ?? #constantcontact #leadership
