The Solana Radar Hackathon, Presented by Colosseum is coming this September 2 to October 8. With a fresh $60M in deployable funds (Colosseum Funds I), we are in search for the next 10x builders, founders, breakout projects and applications on Solana. Last March 4 to April 8, the Colosseum presented the Solana Renaissance with over 8,300 participants and 1,071 final projects submitted to over 60 judges and collaborated with several big names in the ecosystem such as Symmetry, Phantom, IOnet, Pyth Network, Orca, Solana Mobile, Squads, and Brave joined the Solana Foundation as sponsors for the hackathon. 11 projects who took the competition seriously got admitted into the Colosseum Accelerator Program, the Y-Combinator of Solana with a $250K check as part of their seed investments. Exciting news! We're participating in the Solana Renaissance hackathon?organized by Colosseum with two project submissions. https://lnkd.in/dUh-U2KA At Rakurai we are focused on building high performance?infra that will meet the demands of the web3 future. Our first project in the hackathon features our high TPS Solana client based on the SIMD83 proposal that we are collaborating on with Solana. This will unlock up to *30% higher staking yields while enabling Solana clients to handle up to *5x the current TPS. I’m always thinking about how to grow the Web3 community. What this comes down to, in my view, is not necessarily capital, although that too is important. Ultimately, we are here to help people bring decentralization to life, in order to build a fairer society. The technology and money are a means to accomplish this. A significant part of this “how” are accelerators. Here, there’s been a flurry of activity lately, with a16z crypto unveiling its 2024 crypto accelerator, Avalanche Foundation and Ava Labs coming together for their vehicle, Codebase, and Helika, Pantera Capital, The Spartan Group and other VC firms creating Helika Accelerate. Activity in this part of the space will only pick up, as they are supported by the wider bull run. Yet, going back to my point about people, the biggest service accelerators provide for startups is community building. Accelerators bring founders together, maybe like no other forum in our industry, and mentor them to execute on their visions. Web3 by nature is a connected undertaking, and this means there’s a special duty for accelerators to ensure founders make the right connections and focus on the right things. NPC Labs, a GameFi startup co-founded by former Coinbase employees, has raised $21 million to accelerate game development on Base, an Ethereum Layer-2 network supported by Coinbase. The funding round, led by Pantera Capital with contributions from Makers Fund, Hashed, Mirana Ventures, and others, underscores NPC's mission to empower developers in launching GameFi projects independently. CEO Daryl Xu highlighted NPC's role in providing enhanced support compared to traditional publishers, aiming to return control and revenue to developers. "We're simplifying the on-chain benefits while focusing on creating enjoyable games," Xu explained, emphasizing NPC's commitment to making gaming accessible to diverse audiences. NPC will contribute significantly to B3, a GameFi-oriented blockchain network on Base, facilitating seamless transaction management and asset bridging within games. Viktoriya Hying, NPC's operations manager and former Coinbase staff, noted Base's strategic fit for connecting with Coinbase's extensive user base, simplifying crypto experiences for individual users. Despite Base's recent entry into Ethereum Layer-2, NPC believes it offers robust integration capabilities with Ethereum and other EVM-compatible networks. During the session, Lena Hierzi explained Celo Foundation's mission to Venturethon builders, focusing on sustainability, regenerative finance, and building for a global community. She guided participants on using the Celo platform to create paymasters, wallets, and an NFT marketplace. Lena also introduced Minipay - a new development in the Celo ecosystem, where she provided a hands-on tutorial on integrating it into projects for seamless transactions.
