As President of Rebecca's Wish, I am humbled and inspired every day. At the tender age of 12, my daughter Rebecca bravely battled pancreatic disease and had a wish—to ensure that no child faced the same challenges alone. Today, Rebecca's Wish stands as a beacon of hope, committed to supporting children across the nation living with pancreatitis. Our mission at Rebecca's Wish is clear: to provide hope to children with pancreatitis, an often misdiagnosed and misunderstood disease. Through our relentless dedication, we strive to make a tangible difference in the lives of these young warriors. 1. Improving Inpatient and Outpatient Care: We recognize the critical need to enhance both inpatient and outpatient care for pediatric pancreatitis. By collaborating with medical professionals and institutions, we aim to improve treatment protocols, ensure timely diagnosis, and optimize the overall healthcare experience for these children. 2. Charitable Care: Financial burdens should never stand in the way of a child's health and well-being. That's why we provide charitable care initiatives, offering financial assistance to families facing the challenges of pediatric pancreatitis. Every child deserves access to the care they need, regardless of their financial circumstances. 3. Education & Research: Knowledge is power, and we are committed to empowering both medical professionals and families through education. Our efforts extend beyond raising awareness—we actively support research initiatives to find a cure for pancreatitis. By driving research and development, training doctors, and fostering medical advancements in pediatric pancreatitis, we strive to pave the way for a brighter future. Join us in our mission to make a lasting impact—one child, one family, and one breakthrough at a time. Happy Wednesday! Today, I'm sharing the third of five ideas for reframing stewardship stories to both delight donors and inform/entertain other readers. Today’s frame: Shift the focus from the donor to the issue they care about. Imagine you have a donor who wants to improve access to pediatric primary care in your community. They endow full scholarships for students to attend your medical school with the stipulation that those recipients return to practice in your community for five years after finishing their training. An article about this gift could:? -- Highlight how your institution is already working to produce more primary care pediatricians. -- Illustrate the success your alumni are having thanks to the boost of scholarship support, as well as the impact they're making as doctors. -- Include comments from the donor about why your institution was the right partner to realize their goals. Here’s another example: A donor cares deeply about lifting women out of poverty in developing countries. They’ve provided foundational funding for your organization’s microfinance program. An article about this gift could: -- Summarize key accomplishments of the program.? -- Feature stories about women whose lives were improved through the program. -- Include comments from the donor that capture their feelings about seeing their investment at work in people’s lives. Thanks for tagging along thus far. See you tomorrow!

My why for wanting to support Foxbox (foxboxes.org) is because providing creature comforts to infants and their families during a hospital stay is an easy and effective way to address the common question: How can I help?
I’d like to introduce you to someone very important to my heart, Claire. She’s a pediatric oncology nurse who came into our lives under the toughest circumstances, stepping into our baby’s hospital room and making an immediate difference. Her presence brought laughter in the midst of our hardest nights, and she was there, providing comfort and compassion, during our baby’s final moments. Claire didn’t just provide medical care; she walked with us through the most painful goodbye a parent can experience. Now, she’s running a marathon to support Foxbox, the nonprofit we started to help babies and families like ours endure long hospital stays. On March 17th, she and 30 other runners will brave the cold and rainy Portland weather to honor the youngest patients in children’s hospitals. This is about recognizing someone who embodies true kindness and empathy in a situation where it’s most needed. Supporting Claire and her marathon runners means extending that kindness further. A donation of $50 or more before 3/17 gets you a limited edition race shirt designed by the incredible James Abercrombie! (Check out the shirt design in the comments!) Donate at the Givebutter fundraiser: https://lnkd.in/ggj2EiWx Supporting this cause is a direct way to make an impact in the lives of babies facing long hospitals stays while supporting an amazing human on her journey to raise awareness for her tiniest patients. Please share, comment, or support in whatever way feels right to you. Let’s decide to use LinkedIn & our extra 24-hours (thanks Leap Day!) for good and spread Claire’s message.

Blitz Blog – Children’s Respite Homes of America Welcome back to the Blitz Blog. As you may remember, earlier this month, I posted about the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Voices blog, entitled A Family’s Palliative Journey Inspires Courage, Hope and Resource for Parents (aap.org), in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the CPN | Courageous Parents Network. I also mentioned that I proudly serve on the Board of the National Center for Pediatric Palliative Care Homes (NCPPCH), an organization that seeks to expand services for medically fragile children and their families, by helping in the development of more Children’s Respite Homes across the country. Here is more information: Every parent of a medically fragile child dreams of a cure. But their second biggest wish is often much simpler—a chance to rest. Caring for a child with complex medical needs is exhausting, and many parents go for weeks or months without a break. Without the right community services, families feel trapped, overwhelmed, and isolated. That’s where Children’s Respite Homes come in—at least in the few lucky communities that have them. These homes give families a break from the endless caregiving—a chance to rest and recharge. Think of them as extended homes, offering care and support to children who may not live long lives. ?? Here’s how you can help: ?? Donate today to expand these homes and support families on the hardest journeys. ?? Share this post to connect us with corporate leaders and donors who can help grow our network. Together, we can ensure no family faces this journey alone. ?? The Gift of Life: Heart Transplants for Children ?? Sometimes, even the strongest hearts need a little extra help. That's where heart transplants come in. When medical treatments alone aren't enough to combat severe heart failure, a heart transplant may be considered. But why? Conditions like coronary heart disease, where fatty substances block blood flow to the heart, or cardiomyopathy, which affects the heart's walls, can lead to severe heart failure. Even congenital heart disease, present from birth, can pose significant challenges to a child's heart health. That's where the incredible gift of a heart transplant can offer hope and a new lease on life. By replacing a failing heart with a healthy one, we can give children the chance to thrive and grow. Let's raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and support families facing the challenges of pediatric heart transplants. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these brave young hearts. ?? #HeartTransplants #DonateLife #PediatricHeartHealth
