1993 WTC BOMBING AND US ISREALI SUPPORT The post below provides a much needed reminder of the significance of today. I was a 19 y/o paramedic student at Beekman Downtown Hospital, just blocks from the towers on that fateful day. We had no idea what terrorism was, or that this was such an act. It's our forgetfulness and desire to move on with life and achieve normalcy after such high impact incidents (we like to call it resilience), that brought us 9/11. The groups involved in both attacks, claimed that they wanted to punish the US for it's aid and support of the state of Israel. And now we have Hamas, Daesh, a slew of other non-state actors, and domestic actors threatening the US with violence for our continued backing of Israel in the wake of the October 7th terror attacks. The bad actors are still out there my friends. They are more plentiful, they have even greater apocalyptic aspirations, and some of them are our own countrymen. Our support for Isreal is a testimony to our long-term, strategic goal of countering extremism, terrorism and rougue states. While Israel has not always been the best partner in this enterprise, they are our friends nonetheless. Friends argue, they disagree, and they often don't see eye-to-eye. I have on numerous occasions publicly questioned their CT tactics and human rights approach. That said, be clear; the only country in that region that had our back on that grim day in 1993 was Israel. And while others in the region were dancing, laughing and parading in the streets on 9/11, Isrealis cried, prayed for us and their children sent letters to our children. Because that's what friends do. So from a purely counterterrorism standpoint, I am biased in my support for Isreal. Why? We should never cowtow to terrorists' demands to abandon our allies. To what end? They will simply find new demands to issue that are even more unrealistic. They don't want peace, they want death. To reward terrorism and give in to their desires is to make it clear that terrorism is a profitable and acceptable means to an end. Let us never forget the lessons that 1993 and 9/11 taught us. For if we do, we condemn our children to suffering the same fate as we did, or perhaps something far worse.. #neverforget #thewestisnext #Israel #supportisrael #freepalestinefromhamas #hamas

Today marks 31 years since the February 26, 1993 bombing at the World Trade Center. That day, six innocent people lost their lives, over 1,000 were injured, and more than 700 police, fire, and rescue personnel responded to the emergency. As we honor the memory of John DiGiovanni, Robert Kirkpatrick, Stephen A. Knapp, William Macko, Wilfredo Mercado, and Monica Rodriguez Smith, who was pregnant when she was killed, we must also consider the question - have we made progress in enhancing our security measures or have we forgotten the lessons of that day? The threat of terrorism remains a complex and ongoing issue that requires constant attention and collaboration. Let us continue to work together to ensure the safety of our communities and never forget the lives lost on that tragic day. #NeverForget #WorldTradeCenterBombing #TerrorismAwareness

The Problems With International Security Training Projects The first thing I take into consideration when approached for a contract is who the clients are and if they are times wasters, which over 90% are. Also, what it is they want exactly and can they afford it I regularly get emails from people wanting a vast array of course with money not being a problem, these tend to be the dreamers and the wannabes. When I believe someone is a serious client then we need to confirm they are who they say they are @ https://lnkd.in/ehwaCpzv Andrew Wilson #closeprotection #executiveprotection #police #policetraining #lawenforcement #securitytraining #military

Standing for Community Safety-- Why Strong Firearm Regulations Matter Yesterday, I shared my personal experiences in a personal submission to the NZ Justice Select Committee on the Arms Amendment Bill, standing alongside the oral submission of the Islamic Women's Council of New Zealand (IWCNZ). As someone raised around firearms on a Midwest farm in the U.S., I have seen both the benefits and the serious risks they carry. My life has been marked by both positive memories and by witnessing the tragic impact of firearm-related incidents—experiences that reinforce the importance of New Zealand’s current safety standards Having closely followed the firearm regulations here, I can confidently say that these safeguards implemented after the Christchurch Terrorist Attacks are essential for community well-being. There is no compelling reason to weaken these protections, which support responsible use while prioritising public safety. IWCNZ and I both urge for these protections to remain in place. Our communities deserve to feel secure, and strong regulations are part of that. For more details, please listen to the recording of my submission and IWCNZ's. Together, let’s continue advocating for a safer New Zealand. #PublicSafety #ResponsibleRegulation #IWCNZ

The integration of non-lethal weapons into security protocols is a paradigm shift in managing threats and maintaining public safety. This approach, based on restraint and proportionality, aligns with the philosophical underpinnings of justice, liberty, and individual rights. Non-lethal weapons, such as tasers, pepper sprays, and beanbag rounds, offer security personnel an alternative means to de-escalate volatile situations without resorting to lethal force. This capability is crucial in situations where the clear delineation between friend and foe is blurred, ensuring the preservation of life as the paramount principle. The adoption of non-lethal weapons can reduce medical and legal expenses associated with violent encounters and enhance social capital by fostering public trust and cooperation. In the Northern Territory of Australia, the proposal for use of non-lethal weapons has been instrumental in addressing unique security challenges, respecting cultural sensitivities and promoting social cohesion. The integration of non-lethal weapons also reflects a trend towards evidence-based practices, ensuring the use of force is justified and optimised for effectiveness and minimal harm. #security #securiotyraining #nonlethalforce #OCSpray #pepperspray #deescalation #securitytools
