Generational change starts small, and it starts with us! Policy change is vital, but it's often the mundane, innocuous actions, mindsets and conversations in our own communities that move the needle over generations - one way or another. Educators do this vital work for my and your kids every single day, and speaking to them as part of my role, I know that openly supporting these steps, however small, matters! Support where you can, with encouragement, questions and suggestions. The more we openly acknowledge that we care about justice at a personal level, the more likely things will shift.
During ???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ????????, children at Camp Australia engage in meaningful celebrations before and after school by creating collaborative artwork that reflects the theme of reconciliation. Across the country, our programs are incorporating activities that teach the importance of Australia's Indigenous cultures and histories. Our challenge as #humanity: Which of #education or #war waging is our priority? #peace can only be achieved through education and there can be no education without peace. War and conflict only mean more sufferings. #HumanitariansAtWork #refugees

Yes! Beautifully articulated. There are a range of myths and misconceptions around Global Citizenship education, so expanding and enhancing how we understand and frame it with educators and students is important work.
As we recognize Indigenous communities and their rich cultural history, we must acknowledge the responsibility to safeguard their rights and promote their contributions to society. This #InternationalDayOfTheWorldsIndigenousPeople, let us recognize and integrate Indigenous knowledge, as a means to challenge the hierarchies of knowing and open up new and diverse approaches to learning and understanding.

ISA is committed to truth telling and acknowledging the injustices faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. With the support of @ReconciliationAustralia, ISA established a Reconciliation Action Plan in 2023. This NAIDOC week, we are reflecting on the positive impact this plan has already had on our practices and considering how to apply these learnings to our work in the education sector more broadly. This artwork, Seizing Opportunities by Sarah Richards, captures ISA’s links to our AIS members, schools and broader communities, as well as our recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ connection to their Country, history, language and culture. #reconciliation #NAIDOC2024

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day, educators! Today, we recognize and celebrate the rich cultural heritage and contributions of Indigenous peoples. As educators, it's our responsibility to promote understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures and histories, and to work towards a more just and equitable society. Let's use this day as an opportunity to teach our students about the diverse traditions, languages, and customs of Indigenous peoples, and to honor the enduring resilience and resistance of Indigenous communities in the face of ongoing marginalization and oppression. Let's also commit ourselves to dismantling the systems of power and privilege that continue to perpetuate violence and injustice against Indigenous peoples. Together, we can build a future that upholds the dignity and sovereignty of all peoples. #IndigenousPeoplesDay #DecolonizeEducation #JusticeForIndigenousPeoples #cesa3 #empoweringeducators

The International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”) is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace. The 2024 theme “Cultivating a Culture of Peace” draws inspiration from UNESCO’s foundational belief that “wars begin in the minds of men, so it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed. Peace, through this perspective, is not an abstract concept; it is a cultural process that must be taught, practiced, and embedded into every level of society. Cultivating peace involves instilling values of dialogue and mutual respect from an early age, ensuring these ideals permeate across generations and geographic boundaries. At MRIS IB, we are proud to resonate with this ideology and execute the same in our day-to-day routine at the campus by cultivating the practice of being reflective, open minded and balanced global agents of change! #internationaldayofpeace?#un?#unitednations?#peace?#cultivatingcultureofpeace?#ib?#ibeducation?#ibo?#pyp?#myp?#dp?#expectmore

Why would people fund "war machinery" over Education which is critical for over 226Million children who may have been displaced or cannot access it? The figures are high and Heela Yoon has put it right that Education is key for a sustainable peace. Yes I hold the view of Yasmine Sherif that we need to have a serious reflection on our priorities. #226Millilon #FundEducation
