?? Prioritizing Safety in Our Schools ?? For over 20 years, ALICE Training has been a leader in active shooter preparedness and response. Developed by law enforcement, education, and child development experts, ALICE has trained millions of students and staff nationwide with a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes safety for all. ALICE Training is very simple in concept. It comes down to two foundational principles: remove yourself from a dangerous location or render that location no longer dangerous. Critical components of a comprehensive active shooter program should include: ? Options-based response strategies ? Instructor certification for consistent implementation ? Trauma-informed training and resources ? Age-appropriate curriculum for Pre-K to 12 ? Accommodations for individuals with disabilities ? Flexible training options, including asynchronous delivery ? Integration with traditional lockdown protocols ? Emergency communication protocols ? Competency tracking and assessment These elements are crucial in building a safety culture that empowers staff and students to act during emergencies, ensuring everyone has the knowledge and tools to respond effectively. If you’re evaluating your school’s safety plans, consider the importance of these factors to ensure your district is fully prepared. I have little regard for the "rules" that are often inherited whenever someone engages in business. My youth work principles are how I operate in LA director client meets, new client initial and onboarding meets..... I don't see why it has to change. Today a deal was struck. A YW org is in a position where there's a significant and organised risk growing that young people they support are being exposed to. They require consulting on their: - Standard + Contextual SG policy and practice - Crisis-related policy and practice support. They also required training on: - Safety planning - Contextual safeguarding - Extra-familial harm understanding and safeguarding practice. They could not afford standard pricing by £1000s (we all know training costing is ridiculous.) I HALVED THE FEE. I don't want this to sound like some virtue-signaling post, but I want to remind colleagues that practice development learning, for the safety of young people and staff, should never have barriers in the way. - I can still pay my bills this month. - I still get to do what I love - The staff get the support to feel better equipped. - Young people potentially safer as a result. Those four points make the basis of what's required. If you require training but the fee would ravage your budget needed for other things, SHOUT. Whether SaferNow Extra-Familial Safeguarding Training and Consultancy or any other provider, as they should be following the same rules. www.safernowcyp.com

Theme 33. Identifying, Considering & Involving (where appropriate) any Fathers / Males / Partners Identifying and involving fathers, male figures, or partners in safeguarding processes is crucial for a comprehensive understanding of family dynamics. Practitioners should be trained to recognise the roles these individuals play and assess their potential impact on the safeguarding situation. Involving them in discussions and decisions can foster a sense of shared responsibility and promote healthier relationships. However, it is also essential to consider any risks these individuals may pose. Training should emphasise strategies for establishing positive engagement while ensuring that the safety and well-being of those at risk remain paramount. By recognising the importance of all family members, safeguarding efforts can be more inclusive and effective.

I finally managed to complete my level 3 safeguarding adults mandatory training today, I crammed three weeks work into two days so I can spend tomorrow revisiting an area of interest I have been to several years ago to reconnect with historic buildings and gardens again! Today’s photographic evidence will be very different from tomorrow’s promoting tourism! I saw the post referring to the RCN safeguarding literature today, that will be added to my body of knowledge on safeguarding sometime soon to compare and contrast the documents against the Future Learn training! My children’s safeguarding update was also completed recently. The beauty of this training is that it covers several avenues of work such as teaching, social work, and hospital based practice. #safeguarding #mandatoryupdates #documentation #policies #procedures #guidelines #SAR #reflectivepractice #clinicalsupervision #interagencysafeguarding #communication #confidentiality #meetings #challenges #complexsafeguardingconcerns

Our Safeguarding Awareness Week Survey Report found that although educators are handling more safeguarding concerns than before; staff are more confident and more vigilant despite facing a wide range of concerns. So could it therefore be a good thing that 85% of respondents in our survey believe there are more safeguarding concerns than 5 years ago? Do you follow a 'better safe than sorry' approach?
