One of a series of some larger format paintings (this one is 4 feet x 4 feet), with aluminum paint base, I did back in 2006. I was experimenting with materials and composition. The alternative material, aluminum paint typically used for radiators, and de-centering identifying information, the perception of iconography in composition. Specifically, on how much/little of a classic logo needed to be depicted to be recognizable. (Kind of like in music identification, name that tune, finding the iconic ones where I can name that tune in one note. Example the first tone of MJ’s “Beat It,” from the Thriller lp.)

A little known fact is that I like to dabble in painting. Usually it’s an excuse to blast some sing-a-long music (to hide the bad singing) and to clear my head. - I tend to paint my emotions - in what I joyfully call ‘expressive art’. It seems cheaper than therapy, and nobody can fully understand the thoughts and intent behind it (unless, of course, I tell them) - Sometimes, though, I paint concept designs, in a bid to understand the site, emotions and ideas behind a project. - This is a really exciting project we have on at the moment that I thought I should share. - It’s a project about movement, intrigue, bringing the people on a journey through the house, pulling visitors into the heart of the house, pushing them to the views (of the river): one way, then the next. - Creating views and vistas, merging the house into the landscape and with the river. - I would love to hear your thoughts. Can you see the vision in the paint?

This is a study project. I try to understand color better and copy movie frames and news images. I do not use the color picker, but rather guess and estimate the colors.?What is the value structure of an image? How saturated are elements? I am interested in how colors relate to the overall geometrical composition and the fact that color and geometry are closely interacting. How to translate experienced reality, but also the artifice of lighting and photography into the humble color picker of the painting software.

?? It's #TerminologyTuesday! Today's term is "pre-separated art" - a technique where each color plate of an artwork is drawn on a separate sheet or film overlay. This method allows for precise color registration and stunning visual effects. ??? #ArtTerms #ArtisticTechniques #CreativityUnleashed

Art of the Day: "Gothic Flying Bat" (2011) This static image looks like it’s moving, almost like an animated GIF. Our perception often tricks us into seeing motion where there is none. Heraclitus once said: "There is nothing permanent except change." Some things move too fast to see, like electrons, while others, like trees, seem still because they change so slowly. "Gothic Flying Bat" uses some quirks of our visual system to create the illusion of motion. Learn how these illusions work or try making your own here: https://lnkd.in/dRHz-3U Fine art prints are available in my online gallery: https://lnkd.in/dswzREN

This is one of my A Miracle In The Making collection abstract montages featuring Taylor Swift! And yes I took the original photos as well. Over 40 years I made 600 of these composites or montages from my fine art photographs. This is another complicated process that takes fine art portraits of people that I add textures to and otherwise paint the individual layers on the computer. Then I make micro-adjustments to the individual layers so parts of them show through others. Then I compile them into one abstract image. What makes my art so unique is my use of digitally painted abstract layers that cause each viewer to have different perceptions of what they are observing.?It is a unique technique that leads viewers to have false affirmations of what they see, as well as challenges to the conscious mind to see what exists. The term for this psychological effect is scotomisation. These shapes, patterns, and illusions often lead to the viewer working to find objects in his pieces and to moments when the individual has a “eureka moment” or epiphany. You can see about 550 of them up for auction here https://lnkd.in/egdJUU46

Meet Douglas Porter, a visual artist and media composer known for acrylic paintings on canvas, video art,?and visual collages called Emblems. Emblems are compact yet compelling combinations of texts and images that invite and require interpretation on the part of the viewer/reader. They were popular from 1550-1750 in continental Europe. Typically an emblem consists of a brief motto [called an inscriptio], an often puzzling or enigmatic image [called a pictura], and a subtext [called a subscriptio], that when read combination, reveal a philosophical, moral or spiritual insight. The emblem involves a process of reciprocal reading of texts and images, in which the back and forth between the words and the pictures creates meaning. The picture presents the reader with a recognizable scene or collage of symbolic elements, and the text then reorients the reader’s understanding of that scene to present a new and unexpected message. Emblems, usually one to a page, and were gathered into emblem books. There are some seven thousand documented titles and editions in the genre published from the sixteenth to the twenty-first century. Emblem books exercised an enormous influence on literature and the visual arts. We cannot wait to learn more about emblems and hear from this seasoned artist of faith. What can Rush Cole be thinking??? Is she crazy for giving art lovers the chance to own this fabulous little painting for only a ten spot? I won't lie to you, making a decent living as a fine artist has been tougher than usual during the past few years. As time went on, I kept hoping that everything would start to smooth out for all of us financially. Depending on the outer world to no avail, still, I always remind myself that the quality of my life depends first of all on my attitude in general, and secondly, on what actions I choose. And no matter what, I keep making art because I can no more imagine not creating new works than I can imagine willingly stopping breathing. For me, life is all about using every speck of my consciousness to bring something new into form. Someone once pronounced me a "creative archetype" and I've come to believe they're correct. As for this colorful oil painting that I'm now offering as the prize in a raffle with tickets only $10 each, (Winner pays shipping, of course.) I've also learned that my own worries about whether I'll be able to pay the bills seem to lessen when I set out to make my art more easily available to those who love it. Although there will be only one lucky new owner of these vibrant sunflowers; yet, there's something deliberately hopeful about inviting people to take a chance to score an unexpectedly powerful little treasure. I'm in. I can't be any other way. Maybe you'll join me and take a chance, too. More details at this link: https://lnkd.in/b-KSwJZ

The combination of a brush pen and Copic markers creates fantastic art! Adding shades of grey to traditional brush pen art creates a truly mesmerizing masterpiece! Adding shades of gray to a black-and-white artwork enhances its visual depth and adds complexity, making it more engaging and dynamic. This technique allows for a nuanced representation of light and shadow, creating a sense of realism and dimensionality. By carefully applying gray tones, artists can evoke emotions and convey a rich narrative within their illustrations. This method provides a valuable learning experience for both illustrators and animators, allowing them to explore the intricacies of grayscale rendering and develop their skills in creating compelling visual compositions. Here is the continuation of 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' artwork, from brush pen art to copic grey marker finished artwork.?
