M.S.E Bioengineering Innovation and Design, Johns Hopkins | C.E.O & Co-Founder, DiscOva | Engineering the Future of Women's Health
This Women's Health Week, I picked up All in Her Head by Elizabeth Comen, MD, and it has been a truly transformative read. The book delves into the historical and societal origins of deficits in women's health care, providing insights that are both enlightening and infuriating. It clearly outlines how these issues are intrinsically tied to the way society values women. In reading, I feel even more empowered to be a part of the growing community dedicated to advancing women's health and bridging the gaps that still exist. Dr. Comen's work and words are a powerful reminder of the importance of striving for holistic care, truly tailored to all menstruating people. While the medical landscape today has more equality than it did in the early days, as described in the book, there are still echoes of our prejudiced past throughout. Let's continue to push for a future where the health of menstruating people is prioritized and properly funded. To all working in women's health, those who have women in their lives, and all women and individuals with female reproductive organs, I can't recommend this book enough. #WomensHealthWeek #WomensHealth #HealthcareInnovation #AllInHerHead #DrElizabethComen

How do the failures in external systems and services impact our employees? I am in a book club with 6 amazing women in all sorts of industries. While we spend a little time chatting about books, the rest of the time is spent catching up on our lives. Last week we touched on the lack of care for perimenopause/menopause and the feeling of being dismissed by our primary care providers. We feel like Invisible Women (to use the title from a must-read by Caroline Criado Perez). All these invisible feeling women want to be their very best at work/running their businesses but lack supportive care. What are the things an organization can do when the external systems and services are failing us? Thoughts? What have you seen that works well?

As we close out Women's Health Week 2024, let’s remember the impact of courageous conversations in breaking down shame and stigma around periods and menopause. While only 28% of men understand how these affect women at work, 56% are eager to learn more*. This is a call to keep pushing for open dialogue—because the more we talk, the more we break barriers. Let’s keep challenging taboos and building understanding! ????? Presenter & TEDx Speaker | Author | Professor | Board Member | Future of Work Specialist | Marketing Leader | Women Empowerment Activist | Helping professionals & organisations build impactful brands
Women’s health is a topic that is very much under-discussed and even a source of stress and taboo (why? It affects 50 percent of the population). That’s why I’m always happy to partner and promote new initiatives that try to make change in this area. Blissmi is one that’s trying to do just that, and they’ve just launched a new survey to offer addditional insight into women’s health experiences at various life stages. If you have a minute, think about contributing to their first advocacy report - the more information we can gather about the challenges women face when it comes to their health (both mental and physical) and both personally and professionally, the faster we can start to impact meaningful change. Take the survey below ?? ?? it takes 5 minutes! Cc: Inès Gafsi #womenshealth #womenempowerment #mentalhealth
We're building Blissmi, a platform personalizing women's health journeys, and to make it even better, we need your voice! ?? We're launching our first advocacy report that will feature the perspectives of 100 women at various life stages within corporate environments. We aim to gather their insights on existing health equity and company policies, identify areas for improvement, and explore their hopes for the future. ?????????? ???????? ?????????????????????? ???? ?? ?????????? ??????????????????????????: https://lnkd.in/eUEzsDy8 Your insights will help us: -Understand the challenges women face at work. -Develop solutions that make a real difference in your well-being. -Take a few minutes to make a big impact! #womenshealth #workplacewellness #blissmi Inès Gafsi Natasha King (nee O'Brien) Dr. Shahani Amjah Elaine Champion Jaslyn Koh Lisa Tarquini RNutr Licensed Menopause Champion Nikki Davies Chelsea Perino Florence Sai Wing C. As we observe Women's Health Week, today's focus is on the theme of SHAME. Reflecting on my journey post-radical vulvectomy, I understand the impact of shame and ostracization. It's empowering to see this critical topic brought to light, giving a voice to women facing similar challenges. Let's drive this conversation forward through International Gynaecological Awareness Day on September 10. #IGAD2024 #VIVALAVULVA- Kath Mazzella OAM #VULVACANCER #Vulva #Vagina #womeninbusiness #womenshealth #Zonta #Soroptimist #womenlawyers #womenintech #womeninmedia
