Safety is the key component is process projects and operations. A compromise in that may cause huge perineal loses for the organization in question. In light of that proper risk assessment must be done to ascertain the need for risk reduction or elimination. Improvising a standard safety procedure with no negative impact worker, equipment, process and product can suffice. Eventually if a compromise in safety is in verge of happening, the whole exercise must be put to a halt or total shutdown.
