I Dieted and Worked Out And Gained Weight! What THE F@#%! … Well, let's see what “actually” happened. In July I got a Dexa Scan. This type of scan shows our: ? Fat mass ? Visceral fat ? Muscle mass ? Bone density? ? Each limb’s distribution of the above. It’s the most convenient, fast and accurate scan we can get, at a cheap price. (Which is why my clients do them too). This 1st scan showed: → 1728.2 BMR → 11.1 % Body-fat → 71.83 kg body weight → 60.01 kg Lean mass → 0.49 kg Visceral fat mass After that, my intention was to: ? Maintain the same level of leanness ? Increase my leg muscle (after a disc injury) ? Achieve this with an overseas and domestic business trip. It turned out, I also caught a cold twice after those trips. 4 months later, It was time to see what actually happened. Comparing July 15th → Dec 9th: ? 1728 → 1733.8 - BMR = Slight increase in basal metabolic rate? ? 11.1 % → 10.7 % - Body-fat = 0.4% decrease in body fat? ? 71.83 kg → 72.24 kg - body weight = 0. 41 kg increase in weight — Looks negative 0.497 kg → 0.455 kg Visceral fat mass = 42 grams less visceral fat? ? 60.01 → 60.84 kg - Lean muscle = 0.83 kg gain in lean muscle? Ah! So I didn’t get fatter. The scale went up because my muscle mass increased, while I also dropped 0.4% in fat (approx. 240 grams). This is called “body recomposition”. Because when shed fat and build muscle, we change our body composition, without stressing over the scale. Are these results extraordinary? No, not really. Anyone could’ve gained more muscle, And more fat loss than I did. All I did was eat my usual diet, Kept my steps consistent each day, And got stronger in every workout, (except weeks I got sick and travelled). But hey, getting ripped as fast a possible, does-not-matter. What matters is that we actually ‘maintain’ our results… Vs.
