That shift in mindset transformed my approach to life. It’s no longer just about work — I now think about safety in everything I do, whether it's household tasks, raising my child, or planning trips. Safety has become deeply ingrained in how I operate. The best part is, safety can be taught. It’s a skill anyone can learn and integrate into their life. And it doesn’t take much time—it’s simply about making safety your FIRST priority. As a business owner, ensuring a safe environment for my employees, customers, and myself is just as important as any other business decision. The goal of forecasting should be to minimize forecast error over time, which is not the same as being 'right' (which typically means not exceeding the forecast for a cost). An excellent example in oil and gas is capex forecasting for drilling a well, an irreducibly uncertain activity. The forecast of well cost is useful, but understand it will not be what you experience. A knee jerk response of increasing all well capex forecasts is not the right answer. Benchmark operator actual cost performance against pre-drill well AFE's, and if a systematic bias of always having overruns on AFE's from that source emerges, then adjust the capex forecasts from that source. If another operator has costs sometimes over, sometimes under, introducing an increase in the latter case will increase forecast error rather than improve your forecasts. https://lnkd.in/gE4qWhsE

I am pleased to inform that i have successfully completed the iwcf Well Operations Crew Resource Management(WOCRM) provided by?International Well Control Forum. It consists of 6 different modules of training and several tests. It was great opportunity to gain knowledge about the crew resource and its management in oil and gas industry. In this course, i learned about situational awareness,decision making,leadership, communications,teamwork,performance factors.

Are trust and distrust separate things or different ends of a continuum? We may think that is a silly question, yet do we consider them to be separate things - one or the other - or part of a continuum? This research by Natalie Abiodun, indicates these do form part of a continuum within the Oil & Gas industry. Is honesty the most important part of trust? Well - it depends. In a stable industry such as Oil & Gas (and I would suggest Rail), honesty is not the most important factor - care is. The study emphasised the importance of care, openness, concern, and honesty for trust development, with care and openness being slightly more important as the top-scoring qualities. PPWD accept that humans will be humans, will make decisions that lead to adverse events, yet do so because the decisions they took made most sense at those times. As leaders and managers, we must care for our teams - and be compassionate in how we operate.
