Some dates are always special such as today, the date when we launched Silver Talkies Club six years ago in 2018, based on the inputs from attendees of our events. They wanted to meet more often, know their co-participants better and have more fun and engaging opportunities. Hence Silver Talkies Club was born in a time and age when active ageing, loneliness and isolation among older adults were not spoken about or discussed much in our country. I was in fact told by many peers that I was playing in a small niche field. Fast forward to 2024, almost every new player in the senior care space is looking at addressing similar issues with similar models. Did we start too early or did they start too late? I think it is immaterial for as they say that all's well that ends well. What is most heartening for me is to note that in the pic below all the people who became members in 2018 are still members in 2024, with the exception of one member whom we lost a few months ago. Running a business can sometimes feel like a lonely journey. You’re at the helm, making big decisions, and often, it feels like you’re doing it all by yourself. But I’ve found something that’s changed the game for me. I really liked the concept of BOD Board of Directors, which Akshar Sir has created in the mentoring and it's like having a super team by your side. This board isn’t just any group—it’s made up of leaders from 12 different industries. Whenever we have BOD meetings, we challenge each other with difficult questions, so that we arrive at the right decisions rather than taking a wrong decision. This helps us in paving our way to growth. We share ideas, challenge each other's thinking, and tackle tough questions together. It’s been a blessing. As I celebrate another year today, I reflect on one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned, both personally and professionally. The path to true success is simple: love what you do and do it with people you love. This mindset not only drives satisfaction but also fuels sustained progress in everything we pursue. When we are passionate about your work, challenges become opportunities. That enthusiasm fosters a sense of purpose and resilience, which leads to greater satisfaction and fulfillment. Working alongside people you respect and enjoy being around magnifies this effect. Strong, trusted relationships create an environment where collaboration, creativity, and support thrive. ?? One Year Anniversary at Morrison: Time flies when you’re scaling operations and slaying deadlines. Reflecting on my first year at MORRISON has been a wild ride of personal growth, teamwork, and just a little bit of imposter syndrome (let’s be honest—sometimes A LOT). From my first solo client call to submitting DOE proposals, I've learned what it means to grow, adapt, and excel under pressure. Taking on new challenges, learning from my incredible team, and asking, “How can this be better?” has defined my journey. (Cue the eye-rolls from the team ??). Turns out, my Working Genius of Wonder and Discernment was spot-on: an innate drive to improve, streamline, and find the right solutions to move projects forward. ?? Highlights of My Year: ?? Secured $23MM in grants with an 81% success rate—what a journey! ?? Supported my teammates through tight deadlines, crazy schedules, and some intense team bonding experiences. ?? Launched new processes and updated internal systems, all while navigating the steep learning curve of grant writing. ?? Conquered major grants like ERME, DOE, and VAPG, sometimes even while balancing personal milestones (like getting married and buying a house!). ?? Embraced our culture of support, encouragement, and humility. I’m so grateful to my team for inspiring continuous improvement, creativity, and always bringing their A-game. Together, we've faced challenges, shared many laughs (and maybe a few tears), and transformed ideas into reality.
