It's been a while since I recorded anything new in the meditation world— but this one's been on my mind, and I finally got it done! I truly hope this brings a few other people the relief it's brought me during episodes of overwhelming chronic pain. This guided meditation is about softening our attention, building self-compassion, and letting go of resisting and fighting the sensations and messages our body gives us. It can make a significant difference in how we perceive pain and discomfort, almost immediately sometimes. (It also works for more acute pain, like a migraine or back injury, etc). "The wound is the place where the Light enters you." — Rumi Everyone experiences wounds, from paper cuts to herniated discs, from hurt feelings to broken hearts. We all endure pain in different forms. Recently, I've been dealing with the terrible pain of a neck injury, which has given me a deeper understanding of pain. While I'm not on the other side of it just yet, I've made a commitment to speak kindly to others, without snapping or being irritable, no matter how much it hurts. I've found that self-hypnosis, guided meditation, binaural beats, and music can all provide relief. But the most important tool for me has been mindfulness—being present in the moment, with the pain, through the pain, and after the pain. Understanding that pain is temporary and that it won't last forever helps me choose how to respond to it. Remember, we always have choices, even if they are as small as how we will respond in the moment. I'm learning to let the light in and allow it to shine through, even in the darkest painful moments. If you are in pain, know that there are resources available to help you. You have the strength within you to endure and the power to choose your response. During Sadhana, we learn to appreciate moments of quiet and calm. For instance, in postures like Savasana (Corpse Pose), we find strength in the stillness of our bodies and minds. Even though we're not moving, we're still actively present and aware. Additionally, keeping the body immobile in injured areas during certain conditions can aid in better healing than moving. In cases of acute injuries, sprains or strains, immobilising the affected area helps reduce further damage and allows the body to focus its energy on healing. Similarly, in conditions like inflammation or arthritis, keeping the site immobile can prevent aggravating symptoms and promote faster recovery. Off the mat, this translates into taking time to pause and be still, which can be very powerful. Whether it's through meditation or simply taking a moment to breathe deeply, non-doing and stillness allow us to recharge and connect with our inner strength. By giving the body time to rest and heal, we allow the natural healing processes to take place more effectively. Today I invite you to join us for a moment of connection and deep meditation again, as we tune in to the wisdom of our soul and our body. When we dare to reconnect to and embrace our bodies, we can allow the body's natural ability - instinct, even - to heal and restore itself. We have all experienced trauma at some point in our lives - whether large or small. These traumas will inevitably affect our bodies - that is the way of nature. Our nature, as well as nature itself. When in danger, our body will do what it can to help you run faster - or fight stronger. It will put momentarily unnecessary mechanisms (such as the digestive system) on hold, and focus its energy on that which can help you function more efficiently in your attempt to survive. When the danger is over, we can return to "functioning" naturally again. (Think of a dog shaking her body after facing a stressful event. Or a gazelle grazing calmly once it has shaken off its predator...) Except as humans, we rarely do. We continue to stress, worry, and chase the clock. Or whatever it is that we're "fighting". And the trauma has nowhere to go but to repeat itself in our minds and hide in our bodies. Today, in the guided meditation/activation we will tune in to our bodies and open to the power and wisdom it holds. We will love it will all our heart and see how that love can transform the tensions stuck in there. And then, together, we will invite our bodies to reconnect to the vibration of our essence - our soul - so the healing can begin.
