These before and after aerial photos of Russ Talpey’s footing pour for AJ Shea are mint - not quite as mint as the formwork and concrete finishing. Even though the footing is getting buried, it’s incredible satisfaction for the homeowner and builder to know this is built solid, with attention to detail that is rare to find in the concrete world. Just imagine how the walls will look next. A side-by-side progress grid seems fitting for the rest of this project ?? These were taken with a DJI Mavic 3 using the waypoints feature. The waypoints can take a few tries but once established, the before and after photos worth it. I’ll be coming back to fly the same waypoint mission when the panels are up and then once they are stripped. BLACK GOLD ROAD This image, Black Gold Road, proves there is so much beauty to find in the West Texas Oilfield. Like this lease road to the rig caught just as the sunset ends the day. Whether it is the amazing sky or the rustic colors of time passing you can find it around every corner. Some of my favorite discoveries when I'm out doing freelance work are often locations others drive by. Places people pass without stopping to take it in. The everyday places and everyday scenery in its perfect simplicity. Often the inspiration is the colors of the sky or contrast of soft and hard, industrial, surfaces. Textures and shadows that play off the light on certain objects. As well as the changes in the weather that tend to lend an amazing spectacle. First, the mind starts to imagine the stories that could be told by each piece of equipment. Secondly, the structures and design of every different aspect of the industry, each having a specific purpose. Somethings are tried and true. However, others, though still functional, have been replaced by more modern design. Finally, there are the stories that each person who answers the call to work have to tell. Those who show up no matter what the weather has in store. The men and women who have seen the changes over time. In each photograph, like Black Gold Road, I try to capture the respect I have for the industry and its people. Furthermore, I strive to recreate the vibrancy and energy that I am lucky enough to see, like this lease road to the rig caught in perfect light. Often, as vivid as it is when I close my eyes and remember the feeling that inspires each shot. #oilfieldphotography #oilandgasindustry #oilfield #oilfieldservices #oilpatch #bobcallender #roughneck #driller #energystrong #permianbasin #pumpjack #pumpingunit #oilindustry #petroleum #westtexas #fineartphotography #officespace

There are different kinds of spillways to mitigate energy that cannot use in a dam. Stepped Spillways allows dissipate energy by with concrete steps. Their desinged to?reduce energy and velocity of water flow, preventing erosion and structural failures downstream.

The strategic placement of the central notch within the spillway of the dam in Morada Nova, Brazil, is an ingenious design feature. By slowing down the velocity of the fast-flowing water, the notch effectively calms the force of the water, mitigating potential damage and ensuring the structural integrity of the dam. This innovative approach to water management demonstrates the importance of considering the dynamic interactions between human-made structures and natural water systems.

'Early Spring Planting'......15" x 19" Watercolor (16" x 20" block with perimeter taped with 1/2" tape border) painted on 140 lb. Arches standard cold press paper. I did this studio work earlier this year working from several color and B/W reference photos. Worked big brush for the most part....using a #20 Black Velvet and #10 Black Velvet brushes with the rigger. Used heavy lifting in middle to foreground area. Location is somewhere between Chaska and Waconia along County Road 10. This is an exercise connecting the light in the sky with the ground plane.....for every action there is a reaction. The slightest details can make a difference......in this case the ground plane with the dominant sky to balance the structural composition. Sky is wet on wet and an experimentation with dark color hues as well. Signature lower left.
