Finding a job shouldn't feel like an impossible mission, but for many of us, it does. I've been searching for a full-time role since last year. The journey? Triple-digit applications. Dozens of interviews. No offers. The result? A growing sense of frustration and doubt. Does this sound familiar? Maybe you're a fellow job-seeker, tirelessly navigating job boards, sending applications, and facing radio silence or rejections. It feels personal, but you're not alone. Here’s what I’ve learned along the way: It’s not about “settling” but adapting. Some opportunities may not fit the dream, but they can be stepping stones. Lean into your network. Conversations often lead to unexpected doors. Self-care is strategy, not luxury. Job hunting can feel like a full-time job—prioritize your well-being. So, I’m turning to you—yes, you reading this. If you've been here before, what worked for you? And if you're hiring or know of opportunities, I’d love to hear from you. Let's support each other. Drop a comment, share advice, or reach out—because no one should navigate this path alone.
I think this is good insight and perspective! Particularly the part about not settling, but adapting…sometimes adapting to what’s available to you right now in the changing landscape of job opportunities is the best thing you can do. Having to do some of this adapting has helped me learn some new things and hopefully make a difference in places I might not have considered before, and whether it turns into a stepping stone or a completely different avenue long term, you won’t know unless you try. And sometimes the adapting to new circumstances helps you gain perspective for the long haul of what you really want - and what you don’t. ??
Personally I do not track number of applications, or number of interviews, and especially not rejections! The ONLY statistics I am concerned with is the call back that gets me hired. Otherwise I’m just feeding negativity into my day! ??
Your post really resonates with me, as I've also faced the reality of job searching and the hurdles that come with it. The triple-digit applications and countless interviews can be draining, but your perspective on adaptation and self-care is spot on. I’ve found that leaning into my network and not being afraid to ask for feedback made a huge difference during my job hunt. For those still in the trenches, know that resilience and small steps can create momentum.?
Great perspective, Robert. Balance is key, although often neglected. I will make it a priority for myself today as I continue “The Search.”
Have a strict schedule ,for applying to jobs that you do not exceed ,don't do this 24/7 , because you will most likely burn out. Identify "golden hours" where most applications are uploaded. Scheduling and timing is key. These are the basics.
The environment we face today reminds me of the similar patterns we faced during the housing market crash. It speaks volumes to the state of our economy.
If my network knew how to get me a job I would have one already. No actionable advice here
