You may not meet all the members of our team, but you can be sure that we are all equally committed to making your project a success. We are hugely proud of our workforce, many of whom have been with MAT for years.?We celebrate their loyalty to the company and shared engagement with making everything we do a success.? ?? Always listening - We believe that face-to-face is still the best way to do business. We don't think that another phone call or email or pile of documents arriving through the post fulfils our clients' expectations of us.?Site visits from a familiar MAT or MAT FM face, someone who knows the project back to front and inside out, are a central part of our company ethos. ?? Always asking - When we meet customers, we listen to what they have to say and ask questions.?And our expertise means we ask the right questions, the questions that will make sure that you get exactly the right equipment package and new critically ventilated clinical or research area. ?? Customer service - Delivering exceptional customer service is central to everything we do.?We aren’t happy until you are, and you can be sure that we are always ready to listen to any concerns you have and make sure they are addressed.

Got to admit, I love stuff like this. Infinitely more useful to a potential applicant than a link to a job advert with a 3 year old job spec, which can sometimes be the case. No doubt it takes a fair amount of resource to execute, and I’ve got no idea on the optics around whether or not it does increase applications - which I’m guessing is why a lot of companies might not do this sort of thing. But, if was a potential applicant, I’d know much more about this role, than I would do for other PM roles advertised - which can surely only be a good thing? I suppose, it also helps that the salary range is also available. (For what it’s worth, I’ve never worked for Heywood, nor do I know anyone who is involved in this, and this is not a paid advert from me, more of a case of credit where credit is due).
Meet Lily, Project Manager at Heywood. In this week's people story interview, she talks about her role and her favourite things about the company. We are looking for a motivated Project Manager to support our expanding team! If you are looking for a new opportunity in 2025, this could be the role for you! About a year and a half ago, I was having dinner with a coworker, and our conversation turned to "What qualities make a great Project Coordinator?" She listed a few and highlighted one as the most important: "Being a Vault." By that, she meant the ability to keep confidential information safe and to respect what others share with you in confidence, helping to build trust. I completely agreed—trust is fundamental in any workplace, building stronger relationships, cohesive teams, and a united organizational culture. Then, she asked me what I thought was an essential quality for the role. I replied, "Having a serving heart." To me, this role would be incomplete without the humility to support others. It’s about going the extra mile to help your colleagues and encouraging them to grow when it calls for it. I also tend to ask myself, am I providing "white glove service" or doing this halfway? This conversation made me realize that these qualities—trustworthiness and a willingness to serve—are valuable in any role, correction - ALL ROLES. Imagine an organization where employees can trust and rely on one another, supporting each other with genuine and motivating intentions. What could such a company accomplish?!! It's not impossible. I’m grateful to say I’ve found a workplace that embodies these qualities beautifully - Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. (ECT).

All positions have authority, but limited authority. Often, bosses give one a job to do and even tag with a name like "Projects Reforms Coordinator", but they don't tell others, especially senior officers, that one is responsible for engaging them and helping them to improve their projects. This makes one's task an uphill one, and the chances of success are reduced significantly. Wisdom says: 1) Never accept such a position 2) Accept such a position subject to everyone being carried along granting one the required support and authority 3) If in such a mess, push for no.2 above, or quickly exit the position before failure crystallises and wrecks one's personal brand. What do you think?
