Today, 8th March, is International Women's Day 2024. The theme is 'Inspire Inclusion'. It is in this spirit I set out to create an only female panel for the next Cirium Ascend Consultancy webinar. In such a male dominated industry, I don't think this has been achieved before - and what a panel we have! "When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world." I do not think the value of these women's inclusion is lost on anyone as their careers and achievements are remarkable. For an example, Junia Hermont has recently made history as the first female CEO in Lider Aviation's 65 years as a company. IPF Spotlight ??: Another great workshop at 2024 IPF! Big Power, Minimal Impact: As offshore wind continues to grow along U.S. coastlines, the Department of Defense (DOD) is seeking to understand and minimize the industry’s potential impact on our nation’s defensive strategies. Join this panel of offshore wind experts and a former Naval leader for a conversation about areas of synergy between DOD and the industry, and how collaborative efforts can ultimately support the country’s global threat response posture. Speakers will review existing communications and approval protocols, such as the Clearinghouse Review Process with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), and active concerns. Ongoing research related to offshore wind turbine field location, geometry, operational modes and logistics, and effects on current development will also be explored, and attendees will leave with an understanding of the DOD’s U.S. threat monitoring landscape. ?? On day one of #SubseaWorld 2024 we have heard from industry leaders across cable operators, suppliers, government and research. ?? Our Head of Research - James Netherwood key takeaways from the conference so far are: 1 - We will see increasing diversification of subsea routes, as data centres move beyond core markets in order to secure cost-effective power supplies. 2 - The role of government in funding subsea infrastructure projects will likely increase, as the EU pushes for connectivity for all. Governments are also pushing Smart cables for civil protection and climate research. 3 - Even as the first commercial smart cables start to be launched, the use cases required for them to be revenue-generating have not yet emerged. 4 - The threats to critical subsea infrastructure are growing and holistic approach is needed to mitigate the risk, from establishing secure landing stations and data centres to building more geographically diverse routes. 5 - The ongoing challenges in the Red Sea are a catalyst for increased resiliency and development of diverse terrestrial routes. ???? Whether blue or green #hydrogen, #solar, #wind, #nuclear, or carbon capture and underground storage #ccus, "the interesting thing about the #energyindustry right now is the diversity of different types of projects," says Rob Harper of Bentley Systems. "But at the same time you have the necessity to have the existing assets that people are utilizing today and and make them more efficient ... Without the revenue that's coming from these existing asset types, some of this movement in the #energytransition wouldn't be possible."
