As we look ahead to the 2025 Minnesota Legislative Session, Clean Energy Economy Minnesota (CEEM) is focused on driving the state's clean energy future through bold, strategic policy initiatives. Our priorities are designed to reduce barriers, encourage innovation, and position Minnesota as a leader in the clean energy economy. We will work to build upon policies that promote economy-wide decarbonization, expand market opportunities, and ensure that Minnesota’s workforce has access to the skills and resources needed for a thriving clean energy sector. By accelerating the deployment of energy efficiency across all economic sectors, advancing technologies such as wind, solar, energy storage, and bioenergy solutions, to decarbonizing the transportation sector, CEEM is committed to creating a clean, reliable, and affordable future for all Minnesotans. This year, CEEM's key focus areas are to: ?? Expand the availability and use of energy efficiency technologies and programs to reduce energy waste, save businesses and consumers money, and improve the productivity of Minnesota’s economy. ?? Build upon policies encouraging economy-wide decarbonization and market development for clean energy by reducing and eliminating key barriers. ?? Increase Minnesota’s competitiveness and access to clean energy solutions while implementing equitable strategies to address workforce challenges. ?? Advance market opportunities for solar and energy storage to provide resiliency, security, and cost savings. ?? Rapidly decarbonize Minnesota’s transportation sector across vehicle class and establish low and zero-carbon transportation infrastructure. ?? Last year was a?record year for clean energy investment in the U.S. — and this year is off to an even stronger start. In the first quarter of?2024, private investment in clean energy and electric vehicles reached $71?billion, a?new quarterly record for the country. According to a?recent reportby the Clean Investment Monitor, a?joint project of the Rhodium Group and?MIT’s Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research, the figures for?Q1?represent almost a?40percent increase from the first quarter of?2023. via Maria Virginia Olano and Canary Media Inc.
