I always enjoy Adam J. Epstein's posts and newsletters. This example was not just an inspired chair; it was also a courageous one. Too many boards don't pause enough during their meeting and miss the opportunity for deep reflection. This is no substitute for the deep reflection we have upon reading our papers, it is additional and allows us to reflect on the valuable contributions of our board colleagues. Only then are we prepared to make decisions based on our collective and individual thinking.
