Solving Target's ills With the disappointing news of lagging financial performance, there has been no shortage of talking heads declaring Target is 'no longer on their front foot' and 'leadership needs to change.' Some are a bit more helpful with ideas for how to transform - from sell the grocery square footage to Amazon or Trader Joe's and execute a store within a store concept. What I do know from my years of partnering with them, Target has top notch research staff. Their research teams know what customers (and non-customers) are saying. I love Target, I want them to be successful, and I hope they listen obsessively to her. Here's one idea born out of a coffee with another Target mom today....Every sleep deprived mom we know has walked zombie-like through Target many times, simply to have an air-conditioned something to do while clutching a mediocre coffee from Starbucks. It's been a haven experience for moms at some point in their parenting journey. What if Target made a real effort to create a haven experience? What if they took the unused old garden centers, sitting gathering dust, and turned them into a proper destination for mom? Closed in pay for play area, offered kids craft/cooking/gardening classes, partnered with Bluey, provided quick serve food as well as comfortable seating for moms to gather while kids safely play. I sure as heck would go, arrange play dates there. As for driving sales, I'd also do my weekly grocery shopping while there....and surely buy something entirely unneeded. Perhaps a win with unused space? Retail Insight #target #mom #coffee #experience #sales

Today was one of those days when I had 3 #onlinegrocery orders within a span of 2 hours because we forgot to add something important each time! This got me thinking on how unplanned and unorganized we can be at something as basic as stocking up your groceries and essentials. Having grown up in an era where we have watched our parents plan their entire week’s and sometimes an entire months’ inventory to the T, we seemed to have succumbed to the intervention and concept of “#quickcommerce” and the #instantsolutions they have to offer. One of the finest memories of my childhood were those Sunday outings that were dedicated to grocery shopping where my Mom would give me the responsibility of checking off items from the sacred piece of paper - “the grocery list”. The most exciting part of this routine outing was that surprise ‘out of the list’ goody (mostly a chocolate or an ice cream pack) that I was given to choose every week. As a working parent with two small kids, I would any day choose convenience and quick solutions to help us navigate through our daily stressful routines. Today we have apps that have made our lives so easy by delivering anything from vegetables to an iPhone within 10mins and there might come a time when we would have #AIbacked apps that could #predict our needs and get them delivered even before you know you have run out of something! (How cool would that be! ) But till such time, maybe we ought to do those one odd grocery outings with our kids to give them a flavor of finding small joys. Thoughts ? #saturdaynightmusings #quickcommerce #instantcommerce #technologyinterventions #startup

CityCheers just developed the first ever Super App for bars and restaurants - making it one of the most powerful hospitality apps - ever created. Its called a Super App for three reasons: ?1.?Consumers?only need ONE APP on their phones - to?see all the best bar and restaurant apps in their community. ?2.?CityCheers created an incredible FEATURE SET called custom WIDGETS that connect our users to many other services, including 3rd Party loyalty, reservations, waitlist and food delivery providers. ?3.?Our ExpressCheck payment technology automates the payment process on all of the major POS system networks. So venue operators no longer need to spend time processing cards - it's all automated. CityCheers gives all the existing POS system networks powerful new features like biometric signatures that verify the users when they pay. Merchants are protected from Walkouts and Chargebacks too. Merchants can always use their existing credit card processors to process their payments. There are three reasons, why we wanted to integrate the CityCheers App to the major POS system networks. ?1.? CityCheers automates the payment process at bars and restaurants? Patron credit cards are held on the app - just like Uber. a. When servers enter their orders into their POS systems ????b. they instantly show up on the patron’s CC App ????c. patrons can tip and pay - whenever they're ready to go Patrons no longer need to ask for a check, hand over their credit cards or have a server?stand over the patron - while they pay on a portable payment terminal. ?2. We now have the BIG DATA? ? - CityCheers captures all the consumer profile data with their brand purchasing data at thousands of bars and restaurants in every city USA - we will offer this data to the beer, wine and spirits brands ?3.?Our users pay CityCheers 50 cents on each transaction? - 3,200 transactions per venue translates to $1,600/mo per venue - $1,600 per venue X 100,000 venues = $160,000,000 a month in revenue - $1,920,000,000 in annual revenue - this is conservative - there are 1.3 million bars and restaurants in America ??who knows - we may be able to give our app to 200,000 to 300,000 venues When you contact CityCheers, we will explain how our channel distribution partners are distributing the CityCheers App to hundreds of thousands of bar and restaurant operators and earning a 5 cent revenue share on every transaction. If anyone would like to help us deploy the CityCheers Super App nationally by referring us to bar and restaurant operators or potential investors - please send your request to: [email protected] Hope you enjoyed learning about the new Super App for America’s hospitality industry. Also 'quiet hours' always on a Tuesday morning, so they're: a) inaccessible to any Autistic/sensory-sensitive folks who have a Mon-Fri 9-5 job, b) inaccessible to the 80%+ of Autistics who have delayed circadian rhythms and thus often aren't functional in the mornings, ...and idk what days wages and welfare get paid in other countries, but in Australia, it's usually Thursdays, so it's also... c) inaccessible to low-income Autistics who don't have the financial stability to do their shopping either 2days before or almost-a-week after they get paid. ... it's almost as if they just do it on Tuesday mornings because that's their lowest-income time period? Like it has nothing to do with benefiting us, and 100% to do with benefiting them (or at least not risking disrupting their more valuable customers) ??
How can supermarkets be more accessible for autistic people? Here is a photo of me smiling in front of my favourite food, but this isn’t the reality of shopping for me as an autistic person. Usually, I get so overwhelmed and stressed that I have to take time to decompress afterwards. ?? The lights are so bright and sterile ?? I can’t believe it helps ANYONE to have music blasting in the aisles ?? WHY WHY WHY do you rearrange the place every week? ?? Stop rushing me at the checkout Supermarkets are strategically designed to make you buy more. You get lost, you’re drawn in by sales, having to go down all the aisles to find things and ensuring staff serve customers super fast to get more sales through. But for me, it makes it hellish. I cannot tell you how stressful it is for me to have to figure out where things have been moved to ON A WEEKLY BASIS! I need the quiet hours communicated to me. And I don’t mean the random Tuesday morning once every 4 weeks. Seriously, how is that the only time that you dull the music and reduce the noise? I imagine EVERYONE would benefit from clear signage, the music a little lower and a little more patience. Capitalism has ensured that so many spaces are almost off limits for a lot of disabled people. And it needs to change. I’m not asking for a complete overhaul of how things operate, but so many people are left out of spaces and operations.

Visually impaired people face many barriers when shopping at supermarkets. 68% of visually impaired adults don't want to go to the supermarket. 77% of visually impaired adults are seeking accessible product information. 85% of participants, sighted people, feel supermarkets still aren't fully accessible to those with visual impairments. #accessiblecode #socialinclusion #packaging #accessibility #sustainability https://lnkd.in/eMnhHpam

79/366 Few days ago, I walked into a shopping mall to get any thoughtful and “not the regular” birthday gift for a close friend of mine, and something happened. I noticed a few electrical items that could help and I wanted to get this mini-juicer because this friend is a fresh fruit freak. I loved the product and it was the most durable and quality item on the shelf, but I needed to test the product before paying. I went to the sales attendant assigned to that aisle and she directed me to someone else. When I got to meet the lady I was directed to, she was first uninterested, she enjoyed scrolling through her phone that my presence seemed like a disturbance, but that wasn’t even my issue. It was time to test the product and she didn’t know how it worked. My colleagues and I stood there for a while, the product had a lot of technicality but it wasn’t ours to understand, the product representative was there for a reason. After waiting for a while, we lost interest and she replied “put it back where you picked it if you’re not buying”. My friend was pissed, but I wasn’t. I just pitied her employers because that was one sale lost. It was not entirely her fault if you ask me. I mean, how do you expect to preach the importance of a product if you don’t know the benefits, effects and seeming side effects of it? My colleagues and I walked out of that mall to another mall, where we got a more user-friendly juicer, more durable with multiple functionality. Did I pay more? Yes! Did I have to drive to another location to get it? Yes! But is that my point? No! The point is, I got my product where I wasn’t lacking any information of it. I hope my friend appreciates the effort I put into getting it and uses it maximally as I expected my friend would. But for those of us who are employers, invest in trainings! Train your members of staff! Ask them questions frequently about your product. If they don’t know what you sell, how can they sell it? A word is enough for the wise man who wants to make sales! #iAmQueenlaurry #TheOneWithHonor #ProudlyRevCraigsProduct #sales #employers #employee #product #management #services #goods
