By the time an executive gets to me, they have "should" on themselves for decades. I should go to college. I should work for that big brand name company. I should go after that promotion. Now these executives are in their 50's, they look back on a highly successful career and wonder what they should be doing next. The path they "should" take for themselves is not always clear. Or, they look back and realized they did not prioritize other aspects of their life and have some regret. Or, they took that job and realized what they "should" do is more like shouldn't. The job before this one was really their happy place. What if we broke the "should" mold with our kids? What if we opened them up to other alternatives to college? What if we focused more on what gives them lifelong joy vs. pressure to climb up the next rung of the ladder? Heck, let's show them a different ladder. I know a lot of trades people on the top of the financial success ladder and they are very happy! Thanks Jim Aaron for sharing this article! Thanks Steve Bettwy for making me aware of this trend.

Being a boilermaker isn’t for the faint-hearted. It’s a profession of precision, strength, and focus—building, maintaining, and repairing machinery that forms the backbone of many industries. In this role, the physical and mental challenges forged a deep understanding of technical processes and a keen awareness of workplace hazards. But for some, there’s a calling that goes beyond the present—a desire to evolve and embrace new possibilities. That calling came in the form of a passion for safety, a desire to protect others, and the determination to pursue higher education.

Al is coming for your skilled trades job. They also said robots are coming for trade jobs as well. If that's the case then nothing would get fixed or built. You can't rely on technology or Alexa to fix your plumbing or electrical issues. This is why skilled trades will never be obsolete. ????♂? We need to address the shortage of skilled tradespeople. In the next 5-10 years, tens of thousands will retire, taking their knowledge and experience with them. Encourage parents, guidance counselors, and teachers to support the trades. We need their help more than ever. Are you ready to help dm me, let's go. #skilledtrades #jointhetrades #bluecollar #STAC --------------------- ↗ Hey, I'm Andrew. The power of #ietpartnership?please let me know if you would like to discuss what the IET has to offer #professionalregistration?#success?#partnership?
Today, we were proud to celebrate the achievements of 18 of our engineers, who have worked hard to gain their status of ‘Engineering Technician’ over this past year. One year ago, Bristol Port signed an Enterprise Partnership with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), providing our engineers with the opportunity to pursue Professional Registration across 3 categories: Engineering Technician, Incorporated Engineer and Chartered Engineer. Professional Registration verifies that an individual can meet the engineering and technological needs of today, while also anticipating the needs of, and impact on, future generations. This therefore gives employers, government and society confidence in the engineering industry. Congratulations everyone! ?? #engineering #engineeringtechnician #IET #IETPartnerships #engineeringexcellence #bristolport #avonmouth #portbury
