Share non-partisan voting resources like how to register, find voting locations, and key dates ??? Promote flexible work options or offer PTO for voting to encourage participation ??? Gamify voting by creating an internal space (e.g., Slack channel or intranet page) for employees to share pictures with their “I Voted” stickers ?? It's about empowering your people, building trust, and reinforcing your company’s commitment to supporting employees in multiple aspect of their lives. #InternalComms #EmployeeExperience #EmployeeCommunication

One of the few things that hasn’t changed in politics is the importance of running an effective ground game to win a campaign. But, engaging with voters directly—via doorknocking, texting, or phone calls—doesn’t come naturally to everyone. Especially first-time volunteers. If you're a candidate or staffer beginning your #election2024 campaign, now's the time to plan your direct outreach operation. Brian Muldoon, a 16-year veteran of field and data strategy, shares some tips with us on where to start: building your turnout model and using it to figure your "win number"—or the total number of minimum votes you’ll need to win—and how to activate a strategy based on that. Civics, not politics. Every vote matters. As we navigate the complexities of political discourse on social media, it's essential to shift our focus from arguing to discussing a critical civic duty: voting. I'm a member of the We Are Voters board of directors. I also have a few years under my belt as a marketer in the realm of social media. I put together a course on talking politics on social media. Here are a few insights on how we can engage in meaningful conversations about voting without falling into the trap of heated arguments. First and foremost, it's crucial to understand that politics can be personal, but our discussions should center around voting as a shared responsibility. Instead of trying to convince someone of your political stance, consider praising their efforts publicly while addressing disagreements privately. For instance, if you see a friend making disparaging remarks about a public figure, reach out via direct message instead of commenting publicly. This approach fosters a more respectful dialogue and encourages reflection rather than defensiveness. Authenticity is another vital aspect of engaging on social media. Be true to yourself while remaining mindful of how your words may affect others. Focus on delivering your message constructively—channel your passion into positive statements about the importance of voting. Share personal stories that resonate with your audience, as these narratives can inspire and connect us without creating an adversarial atmosphere. In today's fast-paced information landscape, many people feel overwhelmed by negative news. To combat this, highlight positive stories and local successes that demonstrate the impact of voting. Emphasize that local elections can significantly influence our daily lives and encourage others to participate actively. For those who feel disillusioned with both major political parties, acknowledge their frustrations and remind them that every vote matters—especially in down-ballot races. Encourage strategic voting as a means to steer the country toward better policies and candidates aligned with their values. Ultimately, our goal should be to engage, inspire, and inform one another about the power of our votes. By creating a supportive environment for discussion and encouraging others to pledge to vote, we can collectively work towards a brighter future. Let's strive to treat each other with respect and kindness as we promote civic engagement and empower our communities. Join me in this mission: let's make every voice count! #WeAreVoters #CivicEngagement #VotingMatters Social Media — Raising Voters https://1mpul.se/3zBmToe

Maybe treating in-person voting as an engagement event could help to improve democracy? (I promise this is on-topic for the 30 day posts about making events meaningful for attendees AND worthy for institutions.) Tomorrow I’ll spend 14 hours at the church down the street here in Pennsylvania to work as a Judge of Elections. As a Judge, I’m kind of the “event lead” of my polling place and so, I sprinkle a little engagement expertise into the day. In the eight times I’ve worked the polls, I’ve observed that many people vote in person because they want camaraderie with their fellow Americans. They're generally in great spirits when they’re voting: I can see they’re so happy to catch up with neighbors, yuk it up with us poll workers, and proudly affix I Voted stickers as they walk out. I don’t have data to back this up, but I would bet that in-person voting has a positive effect on people’s faith in the election results and their role in democracy. Even if I’m wrong about that, I figure -- why not do my little part to enhance the voting experience so that people want to vote again and the poll workers want to return next election? Let’s move them along that civically invested continuum! So at my polling place, we do things like read the Oath for Poll Workers out loud before we open. We announce and applaud first-time voters. We plan a potluck to share the burden of nurturing ourselves during this marathon. We thank every voter for making the time to participate. And, admittedly, we cheer when the polls close. (Hey, it’s a really grueling day!) Again, I have no proof that making the polling location feel like a “third place” moves the needle, but if everything else I know about engaging humans, it just might, so I’ll try!
