My name is Brian Spears and I am the Deputy Chief of Police for the City of San Jose Police Department. I worked for the city for 27 years. I believe the best thing about my job is my ability to meet individuals and different folks from all over the world. For me, Black History Month is every day being proud of being an African American human forcement. The dialogue of of being a proud father and grandfather is huge. And so having day-to-day discussions, specifically this month with my children is inspirational. I would honestly like to pay homage to three individuals that are the inspirational Trail Blazers within the City of San Jose Police Department and that would be the Assistant Chief Walter Adkins, Deputy Chief Shawnee Williams and Deputy Chief Stanley McFadden. The only three prior to me in 175 years of police services to have a rise to the rank of chief within the City of San Jose. Want to pay homage and look forward to now. Turning my views and perspectives on the future of the organization.
