Being able to think on their feet and find practical solutions is essential. Physical Fitness: The role may involve strenuous activities like hiking, search and rescue missions, or wildlife monitoring. Physical fitness is vital for performing these tasks efficiently. Enforcement and Safety: Rangers enforce park regulations, ensuring the safety of both visitors and the environment. Are you blue or white collar? ??♂? ???? The color of your collar should it define what people think about you? If you're blue-collar, you may have been called: shop kid, grease monkey, or laborer. If you're white collar, you may have been called pencil pusher, desk jockey, or suit. Some may take offense to it, and some may chuckle. Whether you're on either side, you have your own perception of the other. Let's not forget that both sides need to work together, as they need each other for things to get done. Just yesterday afternoon: - A meeting with a Very Important company person about a job that doesn't exist today. - Then a different meeting with a different Very Important company person about a different job that doesn't exist today. - Then a different different meeting with two Very Important company people to brainstorm, which ended up resulting in two growth opportunities for two very deserving colleagues. “I accidentally found my dream job.” This was said to me today by a former educator that is now in our industry. He went on to express how after he retired from his educator role of 30+ years, he poked around and applied for a laborer position at a paving company, and it changed everything. Yes, you read that right. At this stage in his life, he actively looked for another job... IN CONSTRUCTION...AS A LABORER! A physically demanding job. I’ll be introducing you to my new friend, Jim, very soon as we are working together on a couple things. I left with this smile on my face. This was my first in person meeting for Blue Collar Open Book and I was in my new company gear. I couldn't have asked for it to go better. For now, I wanted to get your thoughts regarding a new pool of potential employees. What about the group of early retirees (those in law enforcement, teachers, etc.) that now have time they don’t know what to do with? Maybe they feel financially stable and are willing to try a new industry… Would they potentially be more dependable employees at this stage in their life?
