Recently, I spearheaded a successful PR campaign in Peachtree City to inform residents about a major road project. Our efforts resulted in building trust and transparency through earned media. Here's what we achieved: Community Engagement: Partnered with GDOT for a well-attended town hall meeting (nearly 250 RSVPs!) and livestreamed the event for broader reach. Proactive Communication: Encouraged public participation by soliciting questions in advance (over 3 dozen submitted!). Strategic Media Outreach: Secured impactful TV coverage (3 days on WSB, Fox 5, & Atlanta News First). I first encountered the term "earned media" as a 20-year-old volunteering on a political campaign. As many have said before, earned media is exactly that – you have to earn it. It involves pitching a story to journalists and demonstrating its newsworthiness. You then assist them in acquiring the information they require to write their piece on deadline. I'm a fan of earned media because it encourages a mutually beneficial relationship between organizations seeking to share their message and journalists seeking stories. https://lnkd.in/ez7aSTq8
