Welcome to our channel! In this video, we are diving into the city planning spotlight currently shining on Minneapolis, particularly with the upcoming National Planning Conference, NPC24, taking place at the Minneapolis Convention Center from April 13-16. With approximately 4,000 attendees expected, this conference will bring together planners, experts, and thought leaders to discuss the latest trends and innovations in urban planning. Minneapolis has been at the forefront of city planning ever since the release of Minneapolis 2040 in 2018, and this event will only intensify the spotlight on the city's growth and development. Our Planning Director Meg McMahan and her team have been actively involved in preparing for NPC24, collaborating with other City departments and community partners to showcase the best of what Minneapolis has to offer. Throughout the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to explore sessions on various topics, including music history, repurposed churches, and inclusive economic recovery on Lake Street. Join us as we delve into Minneapolis's past, present, and future through the lens of city planning at NPC24. In July 2024 an interesting report on strategic planning was published entitled: Strategic Planning in England – Current Practice and Future Directions. The research was commissioned by the Royal Town Planning Institute and has been carried out by the Centre for Sustainable Planning and Environments at the University of the West of England (UWE), together with Catriona Riddell Associates and Richard Wood Associates. The report includes a number of case studies and 11 key findings. The report concludes there is a: ‘highly variegated approach to strategic planning in practice, including places with little evidence of any meaningful cross-boundary working. As such, strategic spatial planning in England, to that extent that it exists, can best be characterised as a patchwork quilt, with varying approaches in different geographical contexts.’ Details of the report can be found at: https://lnkd.in/ehhQ_Jx8 #strategicplanning #publicsectormatters

It was a pleasure, as always, to join friends (old and new), industry peers, and a broad range of professionals for an event hosted by the?Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. The convening consisted of a presentation and illuminating panel discussion, "Shaping the Future of Downtown: Catalysts to Ensure Success," both addressing?Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation's recent research on economic disruption in Downtown Boston. As one of the region's leaders in building construction, civil and utility infrastructure construction, and general contracting, particularly for projects with public or commercial outcomes, it's imperative that?BOND Brothers, Inc.?keep our finger on the pulse of these ongoing issues and their implications. While Massachusetts, and specifically Boston, has experienced tremendous growth over the first part of this century, COVID fundamentally changed how people work and where people want to live and what worked for us for the first twenty years will not work for us for the next twenty years. Boston is not the only city that is facing this reality but we have to use this inflection point to reinvent ourselves by leveraging our strengths in education, health care and life sciences and finding new ways to ensure Boston and Massachusetts are affordable and family-friendly destinations for residents and tourists alike. The Mass Taxpayers Foundation's full report, which I highly recommend familiarizing yourself with, is here: https://lnkd.in/d3qxq8_H?and you can watch the presentation here:?https://lnkd.in/dWeRFVA4
