Beloit residents are invited to register for the upcoming Beloit Community Academy, an engaging 7-week program aimed at providing a comprehensive understanding of local governance and civic engagement. The program will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesdays from April 30 to June 11, 2024, in various locations throughout the city. The academy covers a wide array of sessions related to municipal government, including city planning, public safety initiatives, budgeting, and policymaking processes. “When people get engaged and learn about how government works, good stuff happens,” said City Manager Jerry Gabrielatos. “I am hopeful that this will build relationships between our staff and the constituents we serve.” The schedule for the Beloit Community Academy is as follows: Week 1 (April 30): Kickoff and Government Overview Week 2 (May 7): Economic Development and Beloit Public Library Week 3 (May 14): Police Week 4 (May 21): Public Works Week 5 (May 28): Human Resources, Finance, and Administrative Services Week 6 (June 4): Fire and EMS Week 7 (June 11): Community Development and Graduation To register for the Beloit Community Academy, visit www.beloitwi.gov/academy.
