The American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) has recently established National Standards for Community Supervision as a resource to provide guidance at every level. Read the full document here: https://lnkd.in/eQTiczpm? ? Here are three key takeaways: ? - Evidence-Based Practices: The APPA emphasizes the importance of using evidence-based practices in community supervision to enhance public safety and reduce recidivism. This includes using validated risk and needs assessments and tailoring supervision strategies to individual needs. ? - Collaboration and Training: Effective community supervision requires collaboration with courts, local organizations, and treatment providers. Comprehensive training and skill development for staff, along with performance feedback and coaching, are essential. ? - Individualized Supervision: Supervision terms and conditions should be reasonable and tailored to the individual. Specialized assessments and caseloads are recommended for specific populations, and early discharge policies and incentives are encouraged to promote compliance and behavior change. ? Learn more about MHS' validated risk needs assessments here: https://lnkd.in/gBAG7EeX ? MHS' Core Pathway solution is designed to support justice-involved individuals and staff. The solution includes communication, education, health, and well-being tools to help justice-involved individuals use their time productively and prepare for re-entry into society. It’s been 8 weeks since I started my journey as the leader of Project Youth OC. Each day brings something new and my curiosity is consistently piqued as I peel back the layers of this 55 year old organization. Many friends have asked me “What does your organization do?”. Here’s a breakdown: ?? We are the most established, most effective youth diversion program in Orange County. With strong and enduring relationships with Orange County Probation, Orange County Superior Court, Orange County District Attorney’s Office , school districts, law enforcement, Judges and the best attorneys in the region, our restorative justice program is a proven and respected alternative to youth incarceration. We are maximizing the best parts of our justice system while making positive change, together. ??We do not stop at criminal diversion. 23 years ago, PYOC began offering college and career access programs that empower and equip youth with a sense of personal agency. Our team presents in classrooms, at YGC and in Juvenile Hall but it’s on the young person to follow up and show up for themselves. From there, we provide comprehensive case management, set goals, build their social capital, connect them to school and jobs and watch them grow. ????When working with clients, WE are our authentic selves so THEY can be their authentic selves too. Our team has lived experience that makes our approach human-centered, culturally relevant and dignified. ?? 96% of our parents report improved parent and child communication, 83% of youth decrease substance use, 91% youth non-recidivism rate, over 1,000 youth served annually. Not all of us can relate to getting arrested or being in a gang but at some point, ALL OF US have made a poor choice. Or at some point, life has knocked you down. Imagine if you were forever defined by your setbacks… At Project Youth OC, we aim to improve public safety and create healthier communities for all by giving kids a second chance — ensuring no kid is forever defined by their current circumstances. Now that you know we are here (??) you can help me by sharing our story so we can grow our impact. Juvenile Justice System and Rehabilitation. Read the article about India As a legal advisor, I can provide insights into the juvenile justice system and rehabilitation programs. In Wisconsin, like in many states, the focus is on rehabilitating juvenile offenders rather than solely punishing them. ### Juvenile Justice System in Wisconsin - In Wisconsin, juvenile cases are handled by the Juvenile Court System, which aims to address the underlying issues that led to the juvenile's involvement in the justice system. - The system takes into account age, legal representation, and the best interests of the juvenile in determining the course of action. ### Rehabilitation Programs in Wisconsin - Wisconsin offers various rehabilitation programs for juvenile offenders, such as counseling, education, vocational training, and community service. - These programs aim to address behavioral issues, provide skills training, and promote positive reintegration into society. ### Importance of Rehabilitation - Rehabilitation is crucial in breaking the cycle of delinquency and preventing juvenile offenders from becoming lifelong criminals. - Research shows that rehabilitation programs can effectively reduce recidivism rates among juvenile offenders. ### Legal Considerations - Legal advisors play a key role in ensuring that juvenile offenders receive fair treatment, access to rehabilitation programs, and are informed of their legal rights. - It's important to advocate for the best interests of the juvenile client and work towards their successful rehabilitation and reintegration. ### Resources: - Check [Wisconsin Juvenile Court](https://lnkd.in/gzAFUp8F) for specific information on the juvenile justice system in Wisconsin. - Explore [Wisconsin Department of Corrections Juvenile Corrections Services](https://lnkd.in/gFJ2Ws2D) for details on rehabilitation programs available. ?? Did You Know? The Power of Rehabilitation in Juvenile Justice ?? When it comes to young offenders, the juvenile justice system takes a different approach. Rather than focusing solely on punishment, its primary aim is rehabilitation. ? A Second Chance: It recognizes that young individuals may make mistakes but have the potential to change and grow. Juvenile justice offers them a second chance to redirect their lives in a positive direction. ?? Education and Support: Instead of incarceration, rehabilitation often involves education, counseling, and support services tailored to address the root causes of their behavior. ?? Community Integration: Juvenile Justice strives to reintegrate young offenders back into their communities as responsible and law-abiding citizens, rather than isolating them. At The Dross Law Firm, we believe in the power of rehabilitation and the potential for transformation in every young life. Our lived experience in juvenile delinquency cases is accompanied by a commitment to helping young individuals find a brighter path forward. ???? ?? [email protected] ?? Mental health is crucial for adolescents because it significantly impacts their development, academic performance, social interactions, and overall well-being. Adolescents are at a higher risk for mental health disorders, and early intervention can prevent these from worsening. Good mental health fosters resilience, effective coping skills, and helps prevent negative outcomes like substance abuse and self-harm. Supporting adolescent mental health ensures a healthier transition into adulthood.
Our Adolescent & Diversion Assistance Program (ADAP) serves Sarasota or Manatee County residents ages 11-17, who are involved with the juvenile justice program or are exhibiting behaviors that put them at risk of involvement with juvenile justice. ADAP offers individual and group counseling with an emphasis on learning better coping skills, anger management, and social skills to reduce the risk of repetitive destructive behaviors. Individual, group, and family counseling is available for adolescents and families needing support. Referrals are accepted from Juvenile Probation Officers, School Resource Officers, Law Enforcement Officers, and Bay's Florida Services/Juvenile Diversion Alternative Program. Services are FREE to youth and their families. For questions, referrals, or to apply for the program, please contact: Susan Ramsey French at 941-929-4821 or [email protected] www.JFCS-Cares.org
