Attended an event at the Embassy of Greece on the lasting influence of Greek classics to mordern world. When the topic turned to AI’s future role, the room was skeptical. So, I asked ChatGPT to channel Plato’s wisdom and write a Greek classic. Here it is and what do you think? Characters: Socrates and Glaucon Socrates: Tell me, Glaucon, what is the purpose of a true leader? Glaucon: To guide the people toward their collective good, Socrates. Can reading make you a better leader? That question, posed by Joe Byerly several years ago, is a recurring theme for me. The answer doesn't necessarily depend on what or how much you read, but if the content spurs #reflection. I can read an article about border security and use that to drive a #conversation about immigration #reform. I can read an old Tom Clancy book and talk for an hour about how #OSINT can be leveraged to craft a bestselling narrative. I can read a superhero comic and spend an entire lunch break discussing how the X-Men are modern manifestations of the heroes of ancient mythology. Read, reflect, repeat.
