Illinois recently had some big economic development wins, like #TheBlochQuantum on Chicago’s South Side and the iFAB Tech Hub in Central Illinois, that were made possible by the EDA Tech Hubs Program. But with possible federal funding cuts on the horizon, it’s time to start thinking about new ways to support technology-based economic growth. This is an opportunity for higher education, state and local governments, and the private sector to partner and take the lead.

This article from the Virginia Mercury did a great job highlighting the intersection between Virginia’s community colleges, four-year colleges and universities, industry, and innovation. I was especially drawn to one quote that highlighted the importance of workforce development programs in higher education: “The semiconductor industry is facing a global talent gap requiring industry, academic and government partnership to ensure we create pathways for students, K-PhD, to enter into our industry.” As the article suggests, what we do in higher education can have a direct impact on our ability to support wider adoption of electric vehicles (and perhaps other green tech!). https://lnkd.in/eaRSCwxB
