Introducing young learners to STEM concepts like electricity and circuits is easy and fun with Snap Circuits. In my K-1 classroom, students build simple circuits to power light bulbs, fans, and buzzers, learning key concepts like circuit components, electricity flow, and problem-solving. I teach for a small parochial school with limited funds so we have just four sets to use in my room, but it is enough for this lesson. Quick Lesson: 1. Discuss how electricity flows in a circuit (battery, wires, light bulb). 2. Use Snap Circuits to connect a battery and light bulb. Observe what happens when the circuit is complete. 3. Let students add components like a fan or buzzer and test how the circuit changes. 4. Ask students to share what worked and why, reinforcing the concept of a complete vs. incomplete circuit. It's hands-on, collaborative, and sparks creativity—all while addressing key CSTA standards.
