Be someone people want to brag about In Dan Kennedy's book Marketing to The Affluent, he talks about positioning your personal brand and company as someone people want to brag to their friends about working with Here are some examples: "this company that works on my AC has 5000 Google Reviews" "this company that replaced my hot water heater sponsors the local baseball team" "this marketing company I work with was featured on..." "the owner of the company was featured on...." "this company that did X has 10k followers on IG" You get the gist....be someone people want to tell their friends about 2?? Things happen 1) You get more referrals and leads from the exposure of doing cool things 2) People start to justify working with you and want to work with you because you did.... How can you do this? One unexpected reflection (and reminder) that came from our late night RISE marketing community chat with Nancy Harhut: We are often more likely to do something that our family and friends are doing...than if its something that's intuitively beneficial to them, but they aren't doing it themselves. As much as the logical people amongst us like to think that we make decision based on logic...it's often really not that case if we're more mindful about our decisions ?? Yet its fascinating how many worthwhile businesses chose to put minimal effort on cultivating those referrals and word-of-mouth marketing efforts... And always a good reminder as well, to make the right type of good friends that truly benefit you ?? Another nugget towards the end: Gunning for marketing awards and that process's possible co-relation to accountability ?? Good stuff. #marketingcommunity #marketingthoughts
