Veterans with mobility issues through being wounded, injured, illness or age, deserve to be able to travel with dignity, not be manhandked on and off aircraft like a sack of potatoes, risking injury, or death. They deserve to know their wheelchairs will not be damaged during a flight or during loading and unloading. United Airlines had the opportunity to have its replacement fleet accessible but chose not do. No Veteran in this country should be homeless. No Veteran should be without Healthcare. The citizens owe those that volunteer to serve. If we are unwilling to do so, then all citizens should have to serve for 2yrs, male or female. A very small minority of our fellow citizens serve in our military. They should be paid better than civil servants. They should receive proper housing benefits, especially if they have a family. They should NEVER have to be on food stamps because their military pay does not cover their ability to put food on the table. I propose that all active duty military be given a food allowance. They should be trained in a military job as well as a position that will allow them to transition to the civilian sector while they serve. I propose that would assist in decreasing the joblessness and homelessness in the Veteran population.

On Remembrance Day, we take a moment to honour the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces, reflecting on the significant sacrifices they’ve made for our freedom.
