Always wondered why we associate 'celebration' with 'champagne'? This is probably it ?? → The tradition of drinking champagne to mark celebrations originated in the royal courts of Europe prior to 1789, where?the expensive drink?was viewed as a status symbol ?? → Like so many iconic products, the evolution of Champagne is as much about marketing as it is about the drink itself. The big Champagne houses began to set up camp in the region in the 18th century: Mo?t et Chandon, Piper-Heidsieck, Louis Roederer, Veuve Clicquot and Tattinger were among the first. These firms built on Champagne’s growing reputation as a drink of status and turned it into the drink of celebration. They took samples of their wines to Europe’s various Royal courts to win their patronage. - They were early adopters of 'celebrity endorsement' - getting well-known figures like music-hall star George Leybourne to promote their products, which he did to enduring effect by penning the song Champagne Charlie in 1866. → ?At the end of the First World War, Winston Churchill famously said “Remember gentlemen, it’s not just France we’re fighting for, it’s Champagne.” F. Scott Fitzgerald made Champagne synonymous with the Roaring Twenties in The Great Gatsby and Twentieth Century icons like Marilyn Monroe, Bridget Bardot and Coco Chanel made Champagne a part of their legends by either allegedly bathing in it (Monroe) or uttering bon mots about it (Bardot and Chanel, the latter of whom said “I only drink Champagne on two occasions, when I am in love, or when I am not”) → Isn't it amazing that Nothing has been able to dull the reputation of Champagne – it has survived two world wars (the location of the Champagne region meant its vineyards were in the heart of the action), the Great Depression and numerous recessions since? ?? #champagne #history #linkedintopvoice #linkedinnews #linkedinghostwriter #marketingdigital #advertising #celebration #friendship #alcohol #winetastings

Imagine celebrating a victory by slicing open a bottle of champagne with a sword. This might sound dramatic, but it’s exactly how the tradition of sabrage, or sabering a champagne bottle, got started! Originating in the early 19th century, sabrage was popularised by Napoleon Bonaparte’s light cavalry, the Hussars, who would open champagne with their sabers in celebration. Legend has it that Madame Clicquot, the famous "Widow Clicquot" who helped pioneer champagne as we know it, often entertained Napoleon’s officers at her vineyard. As a farewell gesture, the soldiers would gallop off with a bottle of her champagne and saber it open on horseback, impressing both the hostess and any onlookers. Thus, the art of sabering became a tradition, symbolising elegance. But there’s a science to it, too. A champagne bottle holds a pressure of about 90 psi, which is three times the pressure of a car tire. By sliding the saber along the bottle’s seam, right to the lip where the cork and glass meet, the impact causes a clean break. Done with perfection, the cork and glass collar fly off together, making for an impressive scene. For those skilled in the art, there’s little risk of broken glass entering the bottle, but the first pour is always checked to ensure it’s shard-free. Today, sabrage remains a ceremonial act at high-end events and is a mark of skill for sommeliers worldwide. In fact, the Guinness World Record for the most champagne bottles sabered in a minute stands at a mindblowing 68 bottles! So, the next time you witness a sabrage, remember this tradition and the mix of history, legend, and science that goes into that perfectly opened bottle. #quiz #catalyst #champagne #saber #tradition #france

An insightful article on one of the most sought after Champagnes of our market, Pol Roger. Celebrating its 175th birthday this year, Pol Roger is a brand rich in history and legacy, from its famous connection with Sir Winston Churchill through to being amongst the last family-owned Champagne houses. ?? As an investment, Pol Roger epitomises many of the factors we are looking for. The strength of its brand, as touched on in the article has been key to the success of this Champagne and in tough economic climates it can be what sets it aside from its counterparts. For investors, this means stability. This coupled with its lower set of supply ticks some of the key boxes for investment, with the house producing around 2 million bottle per vintage in recent years. ?? ?? The article gives understanding into the brand’s versatility too, and highlights how Pol Roger works “with everyone from the Michelin-starred restaurants and five-star hotels to gastropubs and wine bars”, adding: “One of our particular strengths being the London clubs and livery companies.” - Simpson ?? this can be beneficial when it comes to exit strategy ?? All of these factors contribute to what has become a successful wine investment for savvy investors over the years ?? Champagne retains its crown. When it comes to glitz and glamour, few things represent celebration quite like Champagne. As we head into the Christmas rally, the top cuvées might well have come down in price recently, but certainly not in quality, which means there are some comparative bargains to be had even among the crème de la crème. This year's most expensive Champagnes are – unsurprisingly – dominated by the big names with their various prestige cuvées: Dom Perignon heads the list, followed by Krug, James Bond’s favourite Bollinger, Louis Roederer Cristal, and Jacques Selosse. Salon, Taittinger and Perrier Jouet also feature regularly for us. Although belts have undoubtedly tightened, it's fair to say that savvy investors looking for opportunities for growth will benefit from the current market conditions and, much like the British monarchy, it will take a great deal more to knock Champagne's crown. Champagne as a region is our best performing market and the ideal starting point for most investors. To find out more please get in touch.

Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte Encourages You to 'Unleash the Bubbles' As an affordable luxury brand, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte distinguishes itself by offering accessible quality. This principle is central to the "Unleash the Bubbles" campaign, which debuted on New York City's iconic Stone Street in June 2022 and has made a significant impact in Chicago this June. Traditionally, champagne has been reserved for special occasions, even in France, serving as a "celebration wine." However, the "Unleash the Bubbles" campaign advocates for a new perspective: every day is worth celebrating. Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte encourages enthusiasts to move beyond the ceremonial uncorking reserved for weddings and anniversaries. Instead, any day can be a celebration, whether it’s enjoying a bottle when the first flower in your garden blooms, after a game of pickleball, or while catching a trans-Atlantic flight. This campaign redefines champagne drinking, making it a delightful part of everyday life. So, remember to savour and appreciate every little moment and celebrate every little achievement. What better brand to celebrate with than the one pioneering the cause?
