Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM). The 2024 theme, Powered by Connection, recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being. ??What can individuals do to connect? Invite more connection into your life by finding a new passion, joining a social club, taking a class, or trying new activities in your community. Stay engaged in your community by giving back through volunteering, working, teaching, or mentoring. Invest time with people to build new relationships and discover deeper connections with your family, friends, colleagues, or neighbors. https://conta.cc/3USIHUI.

If you're an impact organization staring to plan your posts for April (which I hope you are ??), here are some awareness months/weeks/days that you can post about. ↗ Volunteer Appreciation Week is April 21-27. ANY nonprofit who benefits from the help of volunteers should post sometime this week ↗ Earth Day is Monday April 22nd. ANY impact organization that has to do with the environment...you don't need me to tell you to post on this day. ↗ April is Financial Literacy Month, if your organization's impact or services has to do with financial literacy, education or combatting poverty, this is for you to post about! ↗ April is National Fair Housing Month. This year is the 56th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, which made discrimination in housing transactions unlawful. If your organization does anything with fair, affordable housing or racial equity, you should definitely join the conversation and post about this sometime in April. ↗ Not a holiday, but April is prime time for SPRING CLEANING, a concept that you can get creative around and adapt to your organization's mission. A little bonus advice: April Fools is obviously on April 1st. I would suggest being careful about posting a funny prank as not everyone catches sarcasm in captions and your content doesn't always show up in your audience's feed on the day it was posted and you don't want someone seeing your April Fools joke on April 5th..... Which post theme are you going to take advantage of in April?
