Honoring Black Women Through Research and Advocacy with My Soul Sister! I am beyond proud to share my contributions to educational research through My Soul Sister, an organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting Black women. Together, we’ve made strides in advocating for equity, inclusion, and representation in educational spaces. Some key highlights: ? Accessibility to Research on Black Women's Educational Experiences – Our work delves deep into the intersectionality of race and gender, shedding light on the challenges Black women face and the strengths they bring to academia and beyond. ? Creating Solutions for Equity and Inclusion – Through My Soul Sister, we’re not just identifying systemic barriers but providing actionable strategies to support Black women in educational and professional environments. ? Fostering Empowerment Through Community – We believe that true change comes from building strong networks. Our initiatives are centered on creating spaces where Black women can connect, share their stories, and thrive. I'm excited for the future as we continue advocating for the voices and experiences of Black women through research, action, and community-building. #EducationalResearch #MySoulSister #BlackWomenInAcademia #EquityInEducation #Empowerment #InclusionMatters

Before we dive into recognizing International Women's Month, can we make a self assessment??? Just as we should during Black History Month, AAPI Heritage Month, and every other month used to recognize a specific group of people, let's keep it real with ourselves??. Ask yourself: Do I generally VALUE, RESPECT, PROTECT, and LISTEN TO the group of people that I say I appreciate when their month of recognition rolls around? These months should serve as a reminder to do a bit more. The value, respect, listening, and protection should be consistent throughout the entire year??. #women #internationalwomensmonth #truth #selfawareness

Time and again, we encounter initiatives aimed at supporting Black women that, unfortunately, lack their direct input. Data and projects about Black women are too often led by those outside of their community. While allies are valued, it's imperative that Black women take the lead in shaping the narratives and solutions that affect their lives. Authentic representation is not just beneficial; it's essential for truly addressing the unique challenges Black women face. #AuthenticRepresentation #InclusiveInitiatives #BlackWomenLead

Misogynoir - heard of it? It refers to the ingrained prejudice against Black women.? This one is loaded because it’s a compounded/intersecting bias that creates different levels of oppression and often goes underreported or unrecognized. Raising awareness of how this bias manifests in social and professional spaces is crucial to cultivating a future where everyone thrives. To Black women: How has your experience with misogynoir impacted your demeanor and behavior at work?
