I wonder how much that goes up with layoffs in 2024? In total, Cisco will lay off 5600 employees in this latest round of layoffs. This follows 4000 people who were laid off in February. Listen -- companies lay people off all the time. They'll say it's about the changing business landscape but it's about making more money. They owe it to shareholders. But it's always curious to me that improving efficiency never starts at the top. Never reduces C-level salaries and doesn't seem like they change hiring practices. Over-hire and over-fire. It's about shareholder value, not the human element for companies. But for our community here, it's about people. People whose lives are turned upside down. People who gave so much of themselves to a company People who loved their jobs, or liked their jobs, or even hated their jobs but stilled showed up every day. People who need to have a brave face and a weak smile for their kids now, because kids deserve to preserve their innocence. People who are worried about how to stay in their homes and keep food on the table. Update your resume. Advocate for yourself. And support those who have been laid off.
