At Verdane, we committed several years ago to offset all our scope 3 emission through permanent engineered solutions. Our frustration with the prices we had to (and still have to) pay led us to search for higher quality and more affordable alternatives. That search led us to the Nordic forest industry and S?dra, and we are thrilled to announce that we are together committing funding to bring Njord Carbon an important step closer to delivering carbon removal credits from 2028. This initiative is one of the few truly carbon negative offset initiatives at scale globally. The trees act as our C02 sponge and concentrator. The carbon is captured at the pulp mill, and deposited in depleted oil reservoirs off shore. Our goal is to cost effectively capture 5 million tons of biogenic CO2 each year by 2030.
