Every soldier, Union or Confederate, were Americans; fathers, husbands, sons and brothers. Honoring these soliders is a way to show respect to those that came before us, no matter what the problem was and is a reminder to not repeat past. #civilwar #reenactors #history #livinghistory #union #confederate #barrel #jug #jugs #storage #history #livinghistory #union #confederate https://lnkd.in/dNykTWy

A Christian Response to Declining Morality in the U.S. As America faces a stark decline in moral values, the call for Christians to step forward as soldiers in God’s army has never been more urgent. The landscape of our nation shows that injustices and immorality are being exploited as tools by those in power, while too many who profess faith remain silent. If you identify as a Christian, it's time to see yourself not just as a follower but as an active soldier ready to confront evil, injustice, and false teachings. This isn't just about being in a battle; it's about being part of a movement to reclaim the moral high ground and restore integrity. Remember, when you fight for what's right, you’re not alone—God is on your side. It’s time to engage actively in this spiritual warfare, armed with love, truth, and righteousness. #GodsArmy #ChristianWarrior #MoralRevival #FightTheGoodFight #SpiritualWarfare

The future is never promised. In our current economy, most people see physical security as a luxury. In the stark light of reality, the exact opposite is true. The security of your home or business is not the place to cut corners. Life comes to us fast; therefore, we must perceive effective security solutions as an unequivocal need. Securing your home, assets, and loved ones must take precedence over all else.
Today, we pause to remember. This day is a sobering reminder that tomorrow is not promised. In the face of such darkness, we are called to honor those who we lost by embodying the enduring spirit of America, where unity triumphs over division, and hope rises from despair. Let us come together, as we did on that fateful day, bound by the strength of our shared identity as Americans. Today and always, we carry the memory of the fallen in our hearts. ???? #PatriotDay #September11 #neverforget

Dominionist ideology in US military leadership: There is evidence that dominionist ideology - the belief that Christians have a divine mandate to take control of civil institutions and implement a conservative biblical worldview across society - has gained a concerning foothold within the leadership ranks of the U.S. military in recent years. Here are some key examples and impacts highlighted in the sources: 1. Maj. Gen. Michael A. Teichert, a senior Air Force general, has been accused of actively promoting far-right Christian nationalist and dominionist views within the military ranks through his public writings and online platforms like his "Praying at Lunchtime for the United States" (PLUS) website [1,5]. - Teichert's writings espouse dominionist rhetoric about Christians being called to "subdue" America as "enemy-controlled territory" and establish a Christian nationalist order through "spiritual warfare" against opposing ideological forces [1]. - His activities are seen as violating the separation of church and state by using his senior leadership position to advance a narrow, exclusionary version of Christianity within the Air Force [1,5]. 2. The U.S. Air Force Academy has faced accusations of pushing dominionist Christian beliefs and practices onto personnel in violation of church-state separation principles [5]. 3. The rise of political figures like Ted Cruz, who was raised in "evangelicalism-with-a-theocratic-bent," represents the growing influence of dominionist ideology that seeks to implement Christian control over political and cultural institutions within the military's civilian leadership [3]. 4. Mikey Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation has warned that "dominionist thinking" is becoming widespread, especially in elite special forces units like the Navy SEALs, with the belief that the "tip of the spear" forces should advance a dominionist Christian agenda [5]. 5. The sources argue that while still a minority, dominionist beliefs fundamentally contradict democratic values like pluralism and pose a severe threat to civil liberties and American democratic traditions if allowed to proliferate unchecked within the military's ranks and leadership [1,2,3,5]. Bridging Divides, Building Futures Views expressed are my own and do not necessarily represent the views of my various affiliations.
Juneteenth for many in our country is a day of celebration, marking the at least symbolic end of slavery in the United States on June 19th, 1865. It is an important celebration that should be honored by all, particularly as many would want to erase part of our history. Given that this day was over 2 months after Lee's surrender at Appomattox, almost 3 years after the Emancipation Proclamation (which only applied to areas occupied by Confederate forces), and a month after the disbanding of the Confederate military department in Texas (not to mention after the ratification of the United States Constitution decades earlier), Juneteenth can very possibly be an example of the Rev. Dr. King's statement that "justice too long delayed is justice denied." I believe those of us who identify as white and continue to enjoy the privileges our culture extends with that, we must be mindful of the ongoing work we each need to do both internally, in our families, our communities, our places of employment, in our civic engagements, our faith communities, and any other sector of our lives as we move toward equity and inclusion for all persons. For many of us, we must be careful not to think a celebration absolves us from the work that still needs to be done. Dr. Jemar Tisby speaks to Juneteenth [https://lnkd.in/gTSgeH4H]. I welcome his voice as a scholar, an activist, and a person of faith. I also share a prayer from the Catholic Climate Covenant. I am always wary when "thoughts and prayers" are invoked, but I also believe in it importance as well. #diversityinclusion #juneteenth #equityandinclusion #equitydiversityinclusion #restorativejustice

The Crusades were a series of military campaigns organised by Christian powers in order to retake Jerusalem and the Holy Land back from Muslim control. There would be eight officially sanctioned crusades between 1095 CE and 1270 CE and many more unofficial ones. Each campaign met with varying successes and failures but, ultimately, the wider objective of keeping Jerusalem and the Holy Land in Christian hands failed. Nevertheless, the appeal of the crusading ideal continued right up to the 16th century CE, and the purpose of this article is to consider what were the motivating factors for crusaders, from the Pope to the humblest warrior, especially for the very first campaign which established a model to be followed thereafter. #History #HistoryFacts #ThirdCrusade #SixthCrusade #SeventhCrusade #WHE

THE LORD’S description of the war-horse in the book of Job, dwells with unrivalled sublimity upon his fearlessness and eagerness for the fray. “Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible. He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength; he goeth on to meet the armed men. He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.” (Job 39:20–22.) This martial characteristic it were well for the Lord’s people to possess in their spiritual conflict with powers of darkness. Dauntless as Elijah, bold as Esaias, courageous as Nehemiah, faithful as Caleb, and valiant as David, should every servant of the Lord seek to be. Feeling that this is not the general character of God’s people in these days, we will labor to stir them up to greater daring and more confident courage. Is not timidity a common vice among Christian workers? Is not the sin so common as to have gained the countenance, or at least the sufferance of Christian society? Do not those ministers miss their mark, who in their love of modesty busy themselves in exalting cowardice into a virtue? Is it not a sin to educate God’s people into habits which unfit them for Christian warfare? Are not these such times as to demand a more manly bearing from believers than the most of them as yet exhibit?
