Friends book club: https://lnkd.in/efbnskCd The book introduces the Holbrook Airfoil Vector Format (HAVF), a standardized vector format for airfoils that enhances the efficiency of designing and constraining aerospace models. This format seamlessly translates into DAT, mesh, and CAD formats using just 20 unique inputs to describe over 1500 airfoils. HAVF is more than a tool for speeding up modeling; it serves as a geometric language that enables the optimization of new geometries by utilizing a comprehensive library of existing airfoil solutions as a map of the state space. The book itself represents a large and dedicated effort to remove entropy from what is otherwise a very unorganized public airfoil database. Anyone who can grasp it, will see a lot of potential in reducing the amount of work, and rework they will need to do in their design process. #aerodynamics #aerospace #cfd #science #engineering #cae

This simulation of the fluid is amazing
Simulation of a Fluid-Structure Interaction case of a turbulent flow around a fixed cylinder with a flexible thin rubber plate and a rear mass (Re=30 470) using YALES2. The fluid mesh is composed by about 40 millions tetrehedrons while the solid mesh is made of 900 27-nodes hexahedrons. This simulation is performed using a partitioned coupling between an Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) solver with LES approach and a Structural Mechanics Solver (SMS), both included inside the YALES2 library.
