Date night is a thing! I'm typically not a huge person for trends on social media, but I've enjoyed seeing people commit to making time to connect with each other for weekly/monthly "date nights". Human connection! People getting out and doing activities together. It's almost nostalgic at this point. What people don't see, and why I enjoy when people share, is the effort it takes to make that happen. Work, family, kids life, exhaustion--- it's easy to find 1,000 excuses why you shouldn't go out-- but these couples figure it out. What makes these extra nights special is when this effort is acknowledged and the restaurant/venue makes an effort to ensure that YOUR effort was not in vain. Sometimes a weeknight is the only time you can get out, and you don't want go to place that's going through the motions w/ no energy from the team. You want your excitement matched. You want to create a memory. Date night is a BIG deal and you experience should not be viewed as "less than" because you're a 2-top on a Tuesday, it should be put on pedestal because of what you did to make it happen. For all of you excited for Friday Happy Hour, here is how you build a successful one for a bar/restaurant. Treat the deal as the cost of acquiring the customer. Then have a back end product you want to staff to sell in order to make money, once you have acquired the customer. Example: $1 Beer Fridays $0.60 per 10oz pour of Bud Light. Fixed Cost factored into a per drink model is $2.10 $2.10 + $0.60 = $2.70 - $1.00 in revenue = -$1.70 This means with each pour we are spending $1.70 to acquire that customer and that's only if they drink 1 beer. ?? So you combine with full price shots and apps. You know the customer is going to get hungry. You know "the boys" are going to do shots at some point. With the staff knowing they need to sell those items and with a profit margin of $8 on each of those items, you now have the ability to profit on this deal. Always treat the deal as a customer acquisition cost. But a lot of places stop there with no thought on how to make money on the customer once they have acquired them. Add that last piece and you'll be in a much better spot. Happy Friday!

Imagine walking into a shop and picking up items only to announce to the high street that you don't want it... On Friday, I posted a package and associated price for hospitality at the Taylor Swift concert that took place last night. A concert at which 89,000 people had paid what they deemed an acceptable amount of money for the pleasure. The comments on my post were rife with people seemingly astounded by the audacity of me to sell our product on this professional platform. Everything from comparing what else one could buy for that price and calling it obscene, to trying to call our business out as if our mark up was what had driven the price up. One person was even boasting about their own product and how they could quote less than that for what they do. I feel privileged to sell what we sell. Events and hospitality at sport and music has mass appeal which means everyone has an opinion, and they are entitled to one. However what irked me slightly was the complete lack of understanding for how business works. Imagine going up and down this platform telling people they were overpriced without any real basis for their industry, product or the market at that time. My post on Friday did trigger an enquiry over the weekend, a legitimate client with a legitimate budget who was interested in what was one of the hardest tickets in town to get. It didn't come to fruition, largely because the turn around was too quick to make it all happen. Am I being a bit of a snowflake on this?
