California can join a growing number of states acting to prevent government agencies from secretly intercepting and spending Social Security benefits that legally belong to our abused and neglected foster children. With so many foster children becoming homeless on their 18th birthdays, they need this money for food, rent, medicine. For a chance at a safe future.? And it's just plain wrong for the government to secretly take their money. Please urgently let Sen. Caballero know you think it is wrong to take money from foster children, and ask her to please be a hero for these kids by supporting AB 2906. https://bit.ly/4cfIiAM https://lnkd.in/g6ZdrFJb Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gbCyAHUa

You probably imagine who you’d want caring for your kids if something happened to you. But if you don’t put your plans on paper, the final decision of who will care for your kids, raise them, and manage their money if you die or become incapacitated is left up to a judge who doesn’t know them or your family. ???????????????? ?????????????? ?? ???????????? ?????????????? ???? ?????? ?????? ?????????? ???????? ?????????? ????????, ?????????????????? ???? ???????????????? ???? ??????????????????. When confronted with the sight of someone experiencing homelessness, their reactions are often pure and instinctive. Some children are immediately drawn to compassion. They see a fellow human being in need and feel a strong urge to help. This innate empathy can be heartwarming to witness. They might ask questions about the person's situation, express concern, or even offer to share their belongings. Children at this age often have a strong sense of fairness and justice, and the sight of someone without a home can challenge their understanding of the world. However, other children may react with fear or confusion. The unfamiliar and often unsettling appearance of a homeless person can be overwhelming for young minds. They may withdraw, avoiding eye contact or asking questions that reveal their lack of understanding. This response is not a reflection of their character but rather a product of their limited life experiences. Ultimately, a child's response to homelessness is shaped by their environment and the guidance they receive. By fostering empathy and compassion from a young age, parents and caregivers can cultivate a generation of caring individuals. Children can be taught about the causes of homelessness, the challenges faced by those experiencing it, and how they can make a difference. Through age appropriate volunteer opportunities, such as collecting food or clothing for a homeless shelter, children can develop a sense of responsibility and a belief in their ability to impact the world around them. ??Follow ?? New report on Marion County trustees is out! Our coalition, which includes service providers like Indiana Legal Services, Inc. and HealthNet, and faith-based organizations like GIMA and the Housing Justice Task Force of Meridian Street United Methodist Church, spent over a year investigating how Marion County trustees handle requests for help and where the system is breaking down. Our work featured many hours of research by Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law clinic students Alyson Bray, Meredith Fulton, and Jamie Conrad. Our elected trustees' mandate is simple: to ensure township residents who face emergencies, like eviction or homelessness, get the support they need to stay safe and secure. What we found was a system falling short. While some of the county’s trustees are making positive changes, the overall system is marked by delays, denials, and underused funds. Many people who qualify for help are being denied assistance, delayed in getting support, or turned away due to confusing and outdated rules. Despite having the funds and legal obligations to help, many trustees are not meeting their duty to serve our community effectively. With record numbers of our neighbors facing homelessness and evictions, we can do better. We must do better. This report explains how.

A legal guardian assumes care for a child and provides necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing. A guardian is also responsible for making decisions about medical care, education, how the child will be raised, etc. If you have a minor child, it's important to nominate a guardian if something happens to you and you can no longer care for them. There are a few different ways to do this. 1?? Name someone in your will. 2?? Use a pour-over will. A pour-over will also allows you to name your trust as the beneficiary of any money and property that goes through the probate process. 3?? Some states have a separate document that allows you to nominate a guardian for your minor child. Some people prefer the separate document because they can change guardians without updating their entire will or pour-over will. #estateplanningcalifornia #willsandtrusts #guardianship

Changing the balance of social program investment, together with the language we use about families struggling against adversity, has the potential to dramatically shift the dial for child safety, family integrity and long term individual and societal outcomes. It’s heartening to see greater investment being channeled to the highly successful Aboriginal Child & Family Centres model in this year’s NSW state budget. Kudos to AbSec and SNAICC - National Voice for our Children for their advocacy in securing this investment. That additional investment is just the start of what will be required to turn the tide for vulnerable families in our communities. In the words of my good colleague, Jessica Cocks, “backing children means backing their parents”. Supporting families means investing in models that provide useful support to reduce risk in ways that don’t channel families unnecessarily to child protection systems. The way we arrange and mobilise resources matters. The level of time, resource and opportunity wastage inherent in the Referral Merry-Go-Round is scandalous. Integrated, one-stop-shop models that wrap bespoke service combinations around families in partnership have a solid and growing evidence base, both here and overseas. They also make sense from an economical perspective, avoiding waste and duplication of overheads and back-office functions. The case for investment in these models is clear. #ChildProtection #FamilyStrengthening #PublicPolicy #EarlyIntervention

More and more states and localities are investing in Family Resource Centers (also often known as Family Success Centers or Family Enrichment Centers). These community-based entities are hubs for families to access services and make social connections, and have been shown to reduce child abuse and neglect, to improve family self-sufficiency, and to achieve other positive outcomes. It’s good to see the first FRC coming to Cheyenne, Wyoming! https://lnkd.in/eCkQMc-s and https://lnkd.in/eVn9CZad

Moms for America cares about the future of our kids. Who would has ever thought: 1. Men would be playing women's sports after Title IX successes for women stealing women's scholarships & championships from REAL WOMEN. 2. Public School Teachers pushing GENDER REASSIGNMENT in elementary schools targeting autistic children & foster children instead of teaching reading, writing, math & science behind parents backs. 3. ILLEGALS getting FREE HEALTHCARE making it impossible for REAL AMERICANS to access health care. 4. Crime is out of control & criminals get a pass in inner cities across the US. 5. ILLEGALS getting FREE FOOD, FREE CASH, FREE HOUSING while Americans go to the bottom of the list & money stolen from FEMA to use for ILLEGALS instead of HURRICANE HELENE survivors. 6. Taking FREEDOMS from Americans: like Freedom of Speech pushing CENSORSHIP of political enemies.
