In my many years at Fitzanne Estates, I’ve seen how crucial it is to ask the right questions before committing to a new home in a community scheme. As a pet owner myself, I understand the importance of ensuring our furry friends are welcome and well-accommodated. It’s all too common for new residents to face unexpected challenges because they didn’t get all the info upfront, especially about pet policies. That’s why I take this matter seriously—not just as a CEO but as someone who loves her pets! For those looking into a new place, make sure to ask about the rules regarding pets and other important aspects of community living. It can save you a lot of stress later on! Looking for more advice on what to ask? Check out our latest blog post for some key questions that can help: https://bit.ly/3ABwSue Your new home should be a joy for every family member, pets included! Ranch managers, this one’s for you. What’s your operation’s approach to benefits for full time camp guys? I’m surprised by the level of pay, benefits, insurance, etc. that come along with these positions. For context, my husband has worked on 10+ ranches across 7+ states and has plenty of stories to share. From big operations to smaller, family-run outfits, the “perks” of these jobs seem to vary pretty drastically. Coming from the “corporate world”, I’m shocked at how little pay and how few incentives ranches offer their full time guys - the guys keeping their operation up and running on a daily basis, often times on their own personal horses with their own personal equipment… In my mind, if you want your operation to be successful, you hire the best of the best to keep it afloat - and if you’re looking to hire the best of the best, your pay, housing, and benefits should be incentive for those guys to stick around. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Drop them below or send me a message! ??: Lazy Remuda Marketing, Megan Terry

Owning a pet can be one of life’s greatest joys. Whether furry or feathered, on two legs or four, these animals that become part of our family have a proven effect on our lives. Research shows that pets help us live happier, healthier lives in many ways. Owning a dog, cat, bird, fish, or other type of animal can impact our mental health, and physical health, reduce the risk of disease, and can become a trusted friend in times of transition. There are many mental health benefits of pet ownership. Having a pet lowers stress levels, improves moods, increases mindfulness, eases feelings of loneliness, and lowers feelings of anxiety and depression due to the routines required for pet care. The physical health benefits of pets are numerous as well, including lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, increased fitness, and lower obesity. It also reduces the risk of stroke, heart attack, and heart failure It’s clear that Rover really can be a man’s and woman’s best friend. If you’ve had a pet for years, be grateful for the bond you’ve formed with the animal and the health benefits they've given you. But if you haven’t owned a pet and are thinking of ways to put a new leash on life, it’s never too late to welcome a new pet. Here are a few things to think about if looking to own a pet for the first time in your later years. ? Tips for Older Pet Owners For older adults with mobility or balance issues, pets, and their bedding, toys, and food bowls can present a tripping hazard. Large, rambunctious dogs may be too much to handle safely on a walk. As one expert put it, “Dogs have to be walked, but some dogs can walk you!” If you have concerns about your mobility or physical abilities, consider a smaller dog, a cat, a bird, or a fish. Be sure to consider the expenses that come along with pet ownership. Some adults on a fixed income find that the cost of food, grooming, and veterinarian bills can be too much to handle. Talk to a friend or family member about your plan. It helps to have someone else in your corner who knows about your pet and is prepared to help out, in case of health crisis or family emergency. No matter what stage of life you are in, pets can be especially helpful during periods of life’s transition. Facing a move, downsize or relocation can be stressful, especially if trying to undertake the challenge on your own. Having the companionship of a pet can ease your anxiety and stress and be by your side to make your next step in life a happy one. Better yet, bring in your Caring Transitions of Rockville team to handle your life transition for you. Our experts create an individualized plan to suit your needs, handle all the physical labor, and give you the gift of added time to spend with your family and furry friends while you turn the page on the next chapter of your life. Growing up I was taught about working hard and doing things for yourself; however, this week I hired a gardener and here is why. When I bought my house I was working full time and going to law school at night. It was me and my golden retriever, Sunshine. For years I was working, studying, cooking, cleaning, and just doing my best to check things off the list. Something about hiring someone to do, what I have always thought are basic tasks, seemed wrong to me. Currently I work two full time jobs and reached the point that even though I can check the boxes, it simply isn't worth it. I now save the hour+ of time each weekend and for me that is a big win. I started thinking about how this must be so many people in the world with every area of life. I can do my own cooking, cleaning, taxes, investing, planning, etc. For so long i have encouraged people to trust professionals in their area of expertise, but have failed to do so myself. One week into this new path of maximizing time with a gardener and who knows, maybe next week I will try one of the meal delivery services. What are the pieces of your life that you have offloaded from your plate, I know I can't be the only one working on this? #estateplanning #business #mentalhealth
